Interested!

I stumbled across the site while looking up LARPs, I'm quite a drive away in NW Ohio (which means I'll most likely remain an absent lurker online). However, I love what I've seen so far. I adore the dedication and spirit I see here. I've been in local groups, and they always fell into the routine of being used to further combat above all else. I'm more of a character driven person, and I was overjoyed to find something like this in my LARP searches. In the 10+ years since I took my first steps into game systems, I've only found a select few that seem to embody what I align with, and have only ever participated in one group that didn't make themselves a hub for boffer 'sport'.

I look forward to continuing my perusal of the site and forums.

Maybe someday we'll get to meet you in person. Knight Realms definitely does its best to put character and story first. In the mean time don't give up.

Maybe some day you can make the drive, we have had people come half way around the world to play. I drive from Rochester, NY every month so I know the long drive problem. I have to say it is worth it though.

Thanks for the comments. It definitely seems like something I would travel for given a better job and more freetime allowing for me to make the trip. Maybe I'll get lucky at the Casino or something, yeah? I think realms needs to become a bit more involved in conquering and expanding westward.

I really enjoy the Galleries and the dedication I see from the players. I feel like some areas of the midwest/ish larp scene have stagnated due to a lack of new blood (and in some cases outright objectification and alienation of certain groups). This group seems to have a pretty amazing spread across the age, race, and gender ranges.

Hey Tyler, My name is Martin and I am from Australia. As said, Literally the other side of the world from NJ (12 hours exactly). I have a huge distance to traverse. Just do it when you can is what I find works. Save up.

You should talk to Dave Sullivan (aka Ded Dog O'Doul). Him and his KanaraK crew come from Indiana at times.

Hello Knight Realms! Myself and two of my friends are planning on attending the June 29th game and we are very excited. The website looks great people seem nice so far it's all thumbs up. I've been talking with Chris (New Player liason) and he has been very helpful, awesome dude. We are still going to need lots of help when we get there. I'm sure Chris and all the nice folks will help us out. Another general question is; Both my friends and I work till about 1700 here in PA and are hoping to make it to the game site at 2000 I hope that we will be on time and ready to play, however if we are late what happens? Looking forward to game immensly.

If you are late then it's not a big worry. Somebody will be available to check you in, get you set up and make sure you understand the whats and whos.

The game doesn't normally even start till around 10 PM and a lot of people come late so no worries.

Hey Tyler, I'm one of Ded Dawg's KanaraK crew from Indiana. While most of our players are from the west side of the state we do make the trip to KR once and awhile. we are going totry to make it out there this fall after the weather cools down a bit. I can't make any promises, but we might be able to take you along if you can help pay for gas and we have the roo in one of the vehicles. I am sure Ded Dawg will reply to this soon though, and he can tell ya more.

Also if you bring any food stuff for the weekend and need storage I'll be the one you'll likely contact.

Sweet, You guys all rock. Everyone I have interacted with is so awesome. As Chris knows I am super excited about coming to this game. I am worried about the combat. My friends and I are good fighters and we are worried about getting rolled in fights due to our lack of abilities, and then after fights we are worried about paying for healing and armor repairs. Is this a rational fear or unwarranted?

Well, as a new player who is terrible, I can say that hasn't been my experience :lol:

Healing is rarely charged for, if ever. Armor repairs are specifically very cheap, and the majority of skill-based attacks don't damage armor - weapon hits are usually the main culprit. You're talking a few silver, unless you have over 100 Armor Points to repair.

As far as armor repairs and other considerations go, you could always try to hook up with an established group ahead of time. Post a brief description of your group (band of traveling minstrels, tribe of Barbarians, etc.) and see if anyone's got a group that would be a good fit for you guys. I have yet to meet a group in the game that won't help take care of their new members . Not only will this help with logistics (armor repairs, sleeping space, food, etc.), but it's a great way to meet new people and get involved with the game.

This forum would actually be the best for it, since you haven't come IG yet you can't use the In-Game boards, which would be the best for an IG standpoint.

Post here, see what happens, like Cassie said, there are a lot of groups, households, and lands that are always looking for new additions, and all groups that I have experience with, always try to help out the new players as much as they can.

I know all the lands and households are looking for new vassals, of new and veteran players, see if any of them have what you are looking for.

Ok, here goes. I am playing a Barbarian/Ranger Uthred ShadowWalker (hasn't been approved yet) my friend is playing a Ronin, and my other friend is playing a Kormyrian Smith. We love to fight and will most def. need help with skills, healing, and repairs. I can't speak for my friends but I would be looking for a group. Thanks for your consideration.

The best thing to do is come to the event and RP in person with representatives from the five provinces. All of them have great things about them, but you need to interact with them all and sort of give them all a spin before you can tell which one you will fit in with most.

other than garb like 90% of the stuff i had happen to me/ friends i made/ everything else i did was on the fly in game. however some tips i have as a new player would be:
-have an idea of your backstory
-bring food
-dont be a dick

follow that and you'll be all set

Erich, you've had a lot of folks send you a lot of cool, & useful tidbits. Hope you don't get overwhelmed too quickly. Whenever new folks pop up, we all get excited, as we remember how it was being new & want everyone who joins to have fun & keep coming back as regulars.

Just a few tips...
Read the New Players! section of the website. It has a ton of great tips, advice, & info for new folks.
Have fun at your first event & take it slow. You will have a ton of questions & there will be some confusing stuff going on. It's our form of organized chaos that makes things fun.
Check the weather. Dress for the weather. Be comfy.

Anyway; KanaraK crew, I just checked you guys out and added you on Facebook (listed as Phil Frii). I'm definitely interested in potentially carpooling with you and interested in the Indiana group.

Ded; I'm about 15-20minutes south of an I80/I90 entrance. I live in Bowling Green, which has me about 20minutes south of Toledo and right off of I-75.

I'm working on getting some free time and money saved up, but I was just placed on mandatory weekend shifts due to the untimely death of a coworker. So I've assumed their shift and prior responsibilities. So I get mandatory weekends until replacements have been found. This has sadly killed my ability to LARP and even play Warhammer on a consistent basis.

I'm sorry to hear that Tyler I hope things get better for ya real soon.

Is there a place to pre-reg for game? Am I just missing it in the links?
