I remember a couple times when it was just retarded.  Amy (Rowan) made Tyler stand outside the Inn for like 3 hours before she finally grew a heart and let him go from her entwine with vines. 
Or the double power spell tether bear strength?  I begged Tommy for months to give me one of those.
