The Knight Realms "Alt" Event!

May 29th -31st  Shehaqua will be the "Alt" event. Please note that this is NOT the next event, but the first of the back-to-back events.

We originally did the "Alt" weekend last year as a 10th anniversary event. Prior to it actually taking place, it met some resistance from players, but almost all of the players who went to it loved it and requested that we try to do more of them.

An "Alt" event is an event that is different than a normal Knight Realms event. Everyone PC's at about the same level, we provide an interesting plot surrounding this alternate aspect of the KR world, and everyone enjoys the opportunity to play something different than their normal KR characters for the weekend, and without a large level discrepancy between PCs. The plot comes to an end, early Saturday night and all are allowed to revert to their normal characters, in the normal game world for the remainder of the weekend. Anyone who attends gets credit for their normal PCs while playing these alts.

As we get closer to the "Alt" weekend, we will announce more information. In the meantime, start thinking of that class, or race, or character concept that you always wanted to mess around with!

Is there any system to pre-approve the alternate characters, or will we all just show up and besiege anyone misfortunate enough to be designated as a marshall.

P.S.: I was looking through the racial rules in maing an alternate character, and I noticed the rules for a hobbit provided that they were suppose to add fake hair to the tops of their feet.  So I was wondering, do I get any sort of bonus if I don't need to add fake hair to the tops of my feet?

- Expected level will be 5

- There will be a marketfaire, at least I see no reason in the plot, why there couldn't be one.

- Restricted races/classes: This is being discussed right now as we are scrutinizing the year and time line of things. In general the spirit of the event is to let you play whatever you want. We will work hard to try to make that happen, perhaps with some RP guidelines that we will post soon.

- Evil Geomancers work by expending materia points to manipulate the midiclorians in gems.

- Not-Evil Geomancers work by expending materia points to summon shiva or the knights of the round.

- A Hypotenuse is the longest leg of a right-angled triangle.

How does having the skills and everything going to work?
Are we allowed to use the build to multiclass?

Single-classed characters only.

To make the process a sane one (for me), a player will pick a race, profession, and an option package.

All of the races come with the standard benefits for that race. The profession selection includes 10 build spent on a "base" setup. For example, A Warrior starts off with a weapon skill and the rest spent on body points. The option packages provide different configurations of the remaining 40 build that the character has (since all PCs are 5th level).

Up to one week before the event, you will be able to request some customization of your character. From one week out, you will be limited to the predefined option packages as they are.

We should be posting a file tomorrow (pdf) that you can download to review the option packages that are available. The post that announces the availability of this file will also tell you what races and professions, if any, are off-limits for the alt event.

Ahh, I'm a little slow... where are the downloads posted? Is it a link in the forum? Is it in some section?

You make the gratuitous assumption that the data promised is indeed in a finished state.

For the Alt Event, will characters with the ability to make and/or use poisons be able to start the Alt event with said items?  If so, how would the be achieved?  Would it be possible to use the Service Point system to acquire one, and if so, what would happen to it after the event?

Can we use the SP menu for our alt characters?
