Sylphs
Thanks to Aaron and Emily’s plot this weekend, Sylphs have been introduced into the game world as a playable, but restricted PC race. Below is the new write-up for Sylphs that will replace the old write-up in the rulebook.

There will be a couple of NPC sylphs at the next couple of events, poking their heads in periodically. This will be so that you all get a good idea of how we want the race to be played. If you are interested in playing a Sylph as a PC race, please attempt to observe these NPCs over the next few months, and wait until August to begin to submit your request to PC a Sylph. Thank you!

Sylph

Body Points: 2
This is a restricted race.

Sylphs are an ancient race of Fairy kin, which have been missing from Arawyn for ages. Long ago, they where tricked into slavery to the Dark Fairies, and have since then served them under the force of a powerful magical pact. In their long slavery they have been forced to do horrible things, including murder and stealing away human babies to be raised in the land of dark fairies.

Only recently was this dark pact destroyed and the sylphs set free. In the prime material plane they have been forced to renounce their immortality to survive. Most of the sylphs have now secluded themselves in hiding, but some have decided to begin to venture into civilized areas. While once the sylphs where a graceful and caring race, centuries of enslavement to the dark faeries, have slightly twisted their nature, and some now seem detached and cold.

Their physical forms are lithe and ethereal in nature, not used to the harsh environments of the physical world. Many see them with unearthly grace and beauty, to an almost alien quality. As a result of their ties to magic and lack of physical strength, Sylphs usually excel at the mystical professions, while finding it difficult or impossible to pursue the more war-like ones. A Sylph's personality contains both the arrogance of ages and the wonder of a new world that is full of surprises.

Starting Professions
Acrobat, Alchemist, Bard, Healer, Mage, Thief,
Penalized Professions
Warrior Monk, Berserker, Brute, Chaos Warrior, Racketeer, Torturer.
Prohibited Professions
none

Role-playing
1. Sylph males are cold and despondent, having been twisted by the horrible acts they were forced to commit. They are not inherently evil, but there is a darkness that they solemnly covet as a remembrance of their sins.  The hearts of female Sylph have proven to heal faster, and they are slightly more friendly and sociable than their male counterparts.

2. Sylphs are intensely curious, but typically naïve about the workings of the civilized world. They will almost always want to participate in any civilized activity that they see others performing, but seldom possess a true understanding of the purpose or method of such activities.

Costuming and Makeup
Upon renouncing their immortality, the majority of Sylphs lost their wings, their minuscule fairy forms, and their timeless lives. Therefore Sylph males do not have wings, yet some few females have managed to retain theirs. All Sylphs have long pointy ears (longer than the average elf), and glittery markings and scroll like designs on all of their exposed skin. Males have black glittering markings, while Females have either, Red, Blue, or Yellow. (Wings, ear tip prosthetic and glitter markings must all be pre-approved by the director before playing)

Begins with 10 MP
Lore: Magic
Levitate

Racial Detriments
Begins with 2 BP
Weakness v. Necromancy

Racial Skill List
(4) Cantrip
(2) Flee
(10) Luck

Woochie elf ear tips will not be acceptable as they are too small, even their large ones.

I have seen NightElf ones, and they are a bit too big. We will be experimenting with a few sizes/brands and will let you know after some testing. Here is the site we are getting ears from: www.aradanicostumes.com/index.php

Does this mean that Sillendral's Transformation can now be used to change people into Sylph's?

Furthermore, male Sylph's do not have wings, but still have the levitate racial.  Does this mean that the racial is not tied to their wings and thus you cannot use Mythrien's Transmutation to give yourself sylph wings and a levitate?

1) Restricted races are restricted. You should not be able to use the ritual to evade this mechanism. If it is worded that you can, than it is mis-worded.

2) The levitation is not connected to the wings, it has to do with the element of air being an ancestral trait to the sylphs.

Then it is definitely mis-worded.

This ritual will transform one target into any one of the standard races found in the rulebook. The ritual will allow the caster to choose
the race, sex, age, appearance, including scars and any deformities. However this ritual may not be used to transform the individual
into someone that already exists. Should the target have any build invested into racials, they may respond them to buy any racials off
of the new list. They may not use any racials from their previous form while under the effects of the transformation. The ritual will not
grant any associated knowledge’s of the new list such as culture, languages or lore. If the target is human and had no previous racials
then they will be allowed to choose 3 build per character level worth of racial skills. The use of true sight will not reveal the targets
true form, however they will see lacework of yellow web like strands all about the character. Note: the effects this ritual will have on
undead is it will change the skeleton to that of one of the chosen race. This ritual cannot be made permanent.

Unless by "standard races" it means "non-restricted".

Exactly. If this is unclear we should re-word as above.

Suggest "This ritual will transform one target into any one of the standard races found in the rulebook." read

"This ritual will transform one target into any one of the standard non-restricted races found in the rulebook."

The ambiguity, which is currently present, will be removed.
