This event is going to be an OOG- social gathering. There will be seminars and classes held, but they are completely optional. If you are interested in attending, we encourage you to please do so. If you would rather just play frisbyfootball with a bunch of other people in the field or some other activity, that is fine too. It is a laid back day of socializing with the added optional benefit of attending some seminars that we have planned. Also the new KR Trailer will be there, and I will be organizing all of its props and anyone who is interested in it is welcome to take a peak or lend a hand.
Some examples of seminars are:
- Costuming and Atmosphere
- Weapon Making
- Make-up
- New Player Advice
- How to Write and Run a Weekend Plot
- The In-game Economy
- How to get involved more with KR
- Open ended suggestions and responses
The list of seminars will be detailed more and with specific times as the week progresses.
Food will be available throughout the day. Mostly BBQ type food.
Price is $10 to attend and helps us cover the cost of food for the day. For that attendance your character will receive 2 build. You have the option of buying up to +3 build at $10 apiece. Anyone who purchases at least one point of build will be allowed to self teach a skill. Build for secondary characters are attainable for the above prices cut in half.
General Notes:
- As with most OOG events where no combat is taking place, adults who are of legal age may consume alcohol, but ONLY to a responsible and socially acceptable degree. Anyone who plans to consume any alcohol must have their ID checked and will be identified with a wrist band or some similar device. Anyone found to have become disruptive as a result of drinking will be dealt with very seriously. BYOB.
- Magic Item Cards, Anyone who has a special item that gives career points, can sit with me and have the item “fixed” to fit in with the career point change. This has to happen anyway, and starting at the next even, any item that has career points dated prior to that month will be considered void by the rules. You can save yourself time at your next event, by taking care of this all at this oog gathering.

I decline the challenge. The crazy kid who kept knocking the ball out of Jon's hands won't be there, and as such I have zero chance.

This is the third KR event that's been held at our house (and I have no idea how many of you or for how many years some of you have come to other parties at our house) and I have been fine with each and every one as every one of you has always been a good guest. I appreciate James' [and Geoff's earlier] comments, and although I understand the concept of wrist bands (James I have some yellow tags and cable ties from pig roast you can use if you want) I seriously hope there are no incidents because, well, I don't want to have to say more than because because I do enjoy having you folks visit.

Alcohol. My rules for alcohol at our parties other than Pig Roast is simple. I either take the keys, or make a determination if one can drive. There is no appeal. Keep that in mind.
At Pig roast, things are looser than KR. I will take it as a personal affront if anyone under 21 consumes any alcoholic beverage on the premises at the social event. That includes in your vehicle. Sorry about being a hardass, but KR's policy is firm on this matter, and it will be enforced here.

I also think this would be a good time to have an audit of the magic items that exist among the player populace. There are a boatload of them floating around out there, especially among those of us that have been around the block a few times.
Some items may need review for balancing with the new casting system or may simply be outdated. This sounds like a tall order but I think it could be done and may serve the Monster Marshals and Storytellers well to have an idea of what sort of invokable abilities the players have augmenting their skills.
We can limit the magic items audited to those that simply contain invokable abilities that refresh per event or periodically.

Sean, Yes. Mail a check to the address on the website.
Craig, not a bad idea. At the very least we will be fixing Career Point Items, but it may not hurt to take stock of what is out there. I need to figure out the schedule first though and see what we are working with.

Alcohol at the social is entirely BYOB. The selection is limited to non-distilled spirits, i.e., beer and wine. Keep in mind Charlie's rule: "Alcohol. My rules for alcohol at our parties other than Pig Roast is simple. I either take the keys, or make a determination if one can drive. There is no appeal. Keep that in mind."
Food: We will be serving burgers and franks. I will lay in a supply of boca-burgers for the soulless. Chips, dip, salsa, potato salad, and such will also be available along with watermelon and some other seasonal fruit. If anyone wants to make a few hundred cookies (or a few dozen) let me know.
If you plan on staying over, let me know. There is plenty of room for tents and we can probably put a large number up inside, although many will be using the floor. After Hickory Run, however, you will find it comfortable.

Taking the Septa is your best bet. From Center City Philadelphia you want to get on the R5 "Lansdale Doyestown" and take that all the way up to Doylestown and have someone pick you up there. Doylestown is probably only 15 minutes from Charlie's house and someone can pick you up from there.

Did you make the move to Jersey (Newark?) yet? If so, I can pick you up... otherwise, you can hop the A train (+ a walk over the bridge) or the 158 bus to my place.
"Ok we can attack... but if we miss, we'll hit the villagers."

Parking: We usually encourage parking on the lower field at large gatherings at Casa Spiegel. As of yesterday,it was still firm. Those arriving Friday can park at the top of the teardrop, so long as you either keep your keys in plain sight in your vehicle or place a sign on the windshield stating to whom the vehicle belongs. Do not pull off the drive at the top unless you first see a Spiegel. The sawhorse blocks access on one side of the house. You will become mired in mud if you ignore the warning there.

Forgive my ignorance on this matter, as I am still rather new to the Knight Realms scene.
I will not be able to attend the event at the Spiegel's, but I'm more than willing to shell out my hard earned cash for extra build. James mentioned that we could send checks to "the address listed in the side bar", but I'm not yet proficient at navigating the site and I don't want to end up sending it to some Nigerian Prince.
If someone could post (or PM me) the address, I would be most appreciative.
Thank you in advance and I hope everyone has a wonderful Labor Day weekend.

Hey All,
To get an early start, Marybeth will be selling WWP fundraiser raffle tickets (at a cost of $5.00/ticket) for a limited time on Saturday at the OOG party.
I will wait until the Sept event to take silent auction bids. It will give me a chance to post proper pictures of the items to show their true quality.
thanks again for your support.

Just want to thank everyone who came to this event and helped clean up! The house looked [mostly] like you folks had never been there, and I greatly appreciate that. Special thanks go to Craig and Julia who tackled the kitchen--great job! You all are welcome to come again.
