Rules Update: Multi-Packet Spells was created by GJSchaller (GJSchaller)
The following spells / prayers have been updated:

Lightning Storm
5 MP; Traits: Attack, Ranged

This spell creates a spray of lightning that covers a ninety degree arc and extends five feet from the caster's hand. The spray inflicts forty points of magic lightning damage to all targets in its area.

Winds of Confusion
6 FP; Traits: Attack, Ranged

This spell creates a spray of confusion that covers a ninety degree arc and extends five feet from the caster's hand. The spray dazes all targets in its area for one minute, preventing them from doing anything other then defending themselves.

Both of these spells used to be the "Five packets for one spell" variety (Insect Swarm was dropped with the recent Druid Update).  Because of the complications surrounding multiple packets and defenses / battle casting, they have been reworded into "spray" effects.

While I will miss the old lightning storm. AOE's are just as nice.

Quick Question.

What happens when I weapon cast a lightning storm?

That makes no sense.  Why would you want to add the restriction of having to hit someone with a weapon when all you have to do is hold out your hand and auto hit whoever is in the arc?

While I could see the idea of going for range, or putting your weapon between two obstacles to get behind them, I would say you cannot weaponcast an AoE / Spray spell, since they are neither touch or spell packet.

I am not complaining about either spell, I am just curious if the second rank Mage spell was meant as a mimic to the fourth rank divine prayer.  Or if changing one or the other's effect to make it more efficient for the career point consumption is something under discussion perhaps!

I don't know what the intent was, but just make sure you note that WoC lasts for 12 times as long as CS, for only 3 times the cost.  There is a good chance that is the difference in ranks.

Sean, your right.  Thanks for pointing that out it's my own fault for not reading the skills to their entirety.  I retract my statement and question.  Thanks again, sorry for that!
