Kitchen Policy *All Player Should Read * was created by Pappy (Quan)
In an effort to ensure your comfort when storing food Items in our kitchen the following policies have been institued. This is the active first draft that will appear as part of the rules book when it has been completed and although the wording might end up differently we will begin in effect IMMEDIATELY but will be enforced as of the April Event to give ample time for everyone to become familiar with the new sets.
Kitchen Use Policy and Game Rules
The rules covering the kitchen at Knight Realms break down into two sections: OOG Use of the Kitchen itself, and Game Rules pertaining to the Kitchen.
Use of the Kitchen
The Kitchen Deputy and the Kitchen Marshals have final say on all things pertaining to the kitchen (other than the Director). Anyone in the kitchen is there with the permission of the Deputy & Marshals, and must abide by their requests.
The kitchen may be used for food preparation only with prior approval from the Kitchen Deputy. This includes preparing food and drink for Market Fair, encounters, private functions, and personal use. Due to the limited confines of the kitchen at some campsites, you are strongly encouraged to prepare as much food off-site as possible, and to bring your own tools & utensils when heating and serving food.
If you know ahead of time you will be using the kitchen, please contact the Kitchen Deputy before the event, or before Lay-On at the latest, to arrange a time to use it.
OOG storage may be provided on an as-needed basis by the Kitchen Staff - ask permission before leaving your belongings in their workspace. Priority goes to people with medical needs (Insulin, extreme dietary needs, etc.). Kitchen Marshals are not responsible for personal items left in the Kitchen.
Any personal food items stored in the kitchen MUST be stored in a closed container, such as a soft-sided cooler or sealed box, that is clearly labeled with the owner's name. Grocery Bags, take-out containers, and soda boxes are not acceptable forms of storage - they are too generic and easily opened / confused by third parties.
If you use the kitchen to prepare a meal, you are 100% responsible for cleanup. Failure to clean up after yourself will result in a rules violation or worse. This applies whether you are using the kitchen for Market Fair prep, or any other meal other than main feast. Asking someone else to clean up after you does not remove responsibility from you for ensuring it is complete - it is your responsibility to make sure it is completed properly.
Any and all utensils, cups, glassware, bottles etc. borrowed from the kitchen must be returned to the Bar area before 4:00 PM on Saturday, and again before Noon on Sunday.
Game Rules pertaining to the Kitchen
Unless someone is clearly OOG (White Headband, Medical Emergency, etc.), all activity in the kitchen is considered In-Game at all times. This includes the Staff and barkeepers. In-Game items left in the kitchen, including in the storage areas, are considered In-Game at all times.
Large Items (such as weapons), props, and costuming that pose an obstacle or hazard should be left at the door or in storage. The kitchen is full of (OOG) knives, glass, and hot liquids & surfaces, and safety is a primary concern. The sole exception is for someone preparing Feast - they may store items in an out-of-the way area in the Kitchen while doing so.
There is to be no combat in the Kitchen. If a conflict arises, all parties involved must leave immediately and resume outside.
A player may not hide their character, items, or anything else in the Kitchen under any circumstances, including the back rooms and freezers. Anyone found hiding themselves (including avoiding combat) or anything else in these areas will receive an immediate rules violation.
Because the Inn is an In-Game institution, and the characters who staff it do so In-Game, food and drinks served from the Kitchen and supplied by Knight Realms are to be paid for In-Game. Food that is prepared privately falls under the normal rules for selling OOG goods IG at Knight Realms. The one exception to this is water - because hydration is a health / safety issue, water will always be provided free of charge, IG or OOG.

While the kitchen is in-game. The Kitchen Deputy or a Kitchen Marshal may at anytime instruct OOG that you leave the kitchen and you must abide by this instruction.
