I have been misunderstood, but I can see why from how I wrote it, so I will clarify.  This complaint was not about being stonewalled or bad RP opportunities or not knowing enough of the plot, or any of that.  Rannick doesn't really care about the intrigues - last couple LARPs I was in, I got way too deep into the "deep plot," and now I'm just there to have fun being an obnoxious barbarian with lower inhibitions than I maintain in real life.  If I ever want to get deeper, I will, but for the moment I'm quite happy with my current level of involvement.

My comment was a critique of bad IG leadership decisions, and a warning of just how close things came to disaster because of them.

You spent all that time setting up your groups with their battle leaders.  You don't need to tell "every individual" what's going on - you tell the battle leaders, and THEY tell all the individuals in their battle groups.

I could really care less about your treaty with bizarro world, but if you don't want a couple of hot-headed barbarians ruining everything, you should probably clue them in on what's going on.  If you DON'T care about them unwittingly undoing all your diplomatic work, simply because they don't know any better, then by all means, keep doing what you're doing - but remember that when it happens, it probably happened because the PCs in the lead weren't disseminating information to the lowest level.  It is strategically important to fill your troops in on important details like, "We are in a diplomatically tenuous situation.  Don't piss anyone off."

In other words, it IS practical - and important - to make announcements about these things.  "Go here," and "fight this" are simply not enough direction to get what you need out of people following you.

Was this the place to bring it up?  Eh, maybe not.  It was kind of a disappointment, so I put it with my low-lights.

Here's a peacemaking addendum to that:

The battle-groups were well led in a tactical sense.  In terms of formations and positioning during the actual fighting, they did very well both at the battle-group leader level and at the over-all leader level.  I will add the highlight that it was pretty awesome to be part of such a large force - wielding formations like that in battle is very hard, and the PC leadership did well at that part of it.

In other words, the "hurry-up-and-wait" early on in the evening was well worth the result.  I hear tell that this is a vast improvement over previous large-scale mods, so - well done!

I wish I had 4 arms.

I just want to take a second to say thanks to: Alex, Andy, , Jon, Joe, MB, Tori, Jason, Matt W., Chris G., Brendan, Brian H., Chris A, Doug, Bob, Emily, Damien, Adam, Mike, and anyone else who helped with the main weekend plot.

There are a lot more, but I'm too tired to think of them.

There are some moment that no ammount of planning can create in a LARP. This was one of those moments.

Despite showing up late, I had a blast this event.

Lowlights-
- Did a number on my back thanks showing up straight from work and taking several falls.
- I am told I missed out on a lot of great plot.

Highlights
- Finding it really easy to just get into character even when arriving late.
- Finding the "cure" with dr.maxwell, and his epic amount of facepalm whenever we talk. Tee Hee.
- Kaladonian Snowball fight: I think there's something in the water.
- Insult 101- Don't Insult Gideon! Insult 102- Don't Insult Gideon again after he's calmed down!

Highlight: Walking into the Bar area and seeing Hamish flat on his back with his arms above his head while Gideon has his foot on his chest and watching his life flash before his eyes.

Funny enough, "Andy," that's my name, too.

Highlights, eh?  Well, as Tiriel, it was great to be back, even if Travance has changed a LOT in 4 years.  Most of the RP I got involved in was privledged, and as such I can't go into too much detail... yet

Breakfast with the Black Orchid was certainly delicious and great fun.

My time spent as Turin MacLeod was, by far, the most fun I have had RPing in like ten years.  Meeting the Celts was great, you guys were enthusiastic and excited, and I think that spread throughout the afternoon and all during the yeti mod.  Speaking for the Hibernians, we can't wait to spend more time with you all, and get to know more of the world outside the Highlands. 

Sat. nite main mod was a lot of fun, playing post-apocalyptic Tellinghasts was awesome.  Excellent RP between MB/Tori and Alisia was touching, and yet violence was hovering about every word.  Dramatic tension is good.  Sam, well done in recovering your sword, try not to drop it next time

You mean try not to get hit with 3 disarm's and 2 spells in 5 seconds? The only reason I dropped it was because a tag skill said I had too 

thanks to chris scanlon for playing a regular old summoned undead on main mod.  I am certain you got beaten on nearly the entire time.  I had lich stats...you had cleave.  Thanks for being a good sport, and thank you for the help.


I am never sending out anything but oozes from now on.  I hope everyone is excited to fight 50 oozes main mod next event.

I had tons of fun this event!

Highlights:
-Coming early and watching my friends lose in chess in like 5 turns by Charlie
-Seeing old faces.
-NPCing for the new player mod and getting ambushed by like more than ten of them at once.
-NPCing as a 3rd stage plague villager/zombie the whole time. Hooray for starting the spread of the plague! 
-Meeting some new, fun people.
-Moss Mod was pretty entertaining. didn't do that much, but i didn't make anything worse.
-It's the g-g-g-g-gromobulous! that was fun (mainly because nobody needed to anything really)
-Help serve for feast. talking about random crap in the kitchen was interesting.
-Being in Colin's front line of the main mod (even though i was a low level). 
-Starting the main mod with 13 body and ending with 1 body! WIN! Thank you shield! 
-Learning stuff from Colin.
-Doing really well when i sparred against Colin and Cyric. (even though they probably were going easy on me) 
-Being fairly warm throughout most of the event!!

Lowlights:
-Getting my foot soaked the first night at the beginning of my NPC shift and having that foot be frozen for the next couple hours.
-Falling asleep early every night my cursed will to be tired!!!
-My shield's paint chipping, again. and a lot of paint coming off on my hand.

Ah yes.  There I was, about 6 PM (before lay-on) sitting in the Inn with a few second/third timers and three or four newbs, one of whom was Leon.  He was playing a game of chess and winning. Our brief, but infinitely entertaining conversation follows:

Me:  Are you aware that there are a few who will play for IG coin?

Leon:  I will so totally own them!

Me:  Do you believe in full disclosure?

Modification - he did not lose in 5 turns, but had a lost position.  The execution took another 25 or so.
