I'm looking for the merchant who was selling the cheap (ish) weapons at last event's market faire. I want to know if they have a website where I can browse the wears or if I just have to wait until next event.

Thanks!

If you're referring to the ones I had out as Gideon, those are Calimacil, sold through Jenna (shiva14b).  You can click on the banner on the right of the website for full details - including how to get the KR discount!

They had some great throwing daggers and some really cool axes

Check out badgersden.com for latex throwing daggers.  They're a good deal.

Yeah, the ones at the back table Jason mentioned are the ones I'm looking for. I know Calimacil and have looked at their swords, I just want to shop around

"cheap (ish)" tipped me off that she probably didn't mean the Calimacils :-P.

Dont know who that was in the back, but Cameron sells  under $100 latex weapons (although i think its mostly hammers).

I think I know what you mean. The one that sold at 40% off prices? That was pretty much a one time thing, from what I remember them telling me, becuase they where in fact trying to completely and permanently un-stock.  They said it was possible that they might have weapons again in the future, but not reliably likely.

Not sure if anyone remembers but they have this red and black shield.  I didn't have the cash on me at the time and have since been looking for it on the Internet.  Does anyone know what make or brand it was?

So, I was looking on this site:
www.latex-weaponry.com/if_epicarmoury.html

And I found I really liked some of the stuff, but Knight Realms is not on the Approval list. It is on some of the other collections approval list though. Can I get a yay, nay, or I don't know from anyone on quality, upkeep, approval, etc?

I am a poor college kid and would like to make sure I am getting the right kinds of weapons before I spend my money

If it is a latex weapon company it should be fine. However that statement is never a promise, only a reassurance, that if someone is professionally making and selling latex weapons, chances are they are approved for use. The bottom line really draws down to the player using the weapon. If the player uses the weapon safely and does not get complaints of being hurt from other players, than nine times out of ten, there should be no issues.

For what it's worth, I've ordered from Olan Knight several times, and he's always provided top-notch customer service.  Knighthawk Armory is a good business to deal with. ;)

I have a sword from knight-hawk armory and it was approved without problem, but they sell from a couple of different manufacturers, so I do not know if everything there will be as compliant with KR as my sword (Forgotten Dreams) is.

Knighthawk armoury also makes custom weapons.

Will these weapons need to be approved on an individual basis or can one assume that if the manufacturer is approved that the weapon will be safe. Should a person send a personal message to one of the KR staff with description and pictures first?

I'd just hate to spend time and money on a custom weapon to have it rejected at a KR event.

As per forum rules, please sign all your posts with an OOG name to refer to you by. Thanks.

James above answered the question as best anyone can.  9 times out of 10 a professionally made latex weapon will pass, particularly if the manufacturer has repeatedly shown to do approved work.  However, there is always the possibility that a weapon comes faulty or is a new less safe (by our standards) design, and frankly no number of pictures will really tell a marshal if a weapon is too hard or if you can feel the core through the foam - that can only be done in person at the event, as with any other weapon.  For this reason, no one on staff will ever gauruntee you that something they have not physically handled will pass, on the off chance it does not for some reason.

True, I guess it would be hard to tell from a diagram exactly how heavy a foam weapon is. Worst case I get a great cosplay weapon for conventions lol.
