Hi guys,
Well it seems I'm in a bit of a pickle. I've been looking online for cheap clothes and weapons but I'm just seeing items remaining stagnant in the $100 range. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong areas or you guys have any ideas on what places i should go to.

Hey Jack,
Latex weapons are a bit more difficult. However, clothing made by a person and not a company, is cheaper. We have talented seamstresses here who are reasonable. The Web Links on the right is a good resource.

If you want good, solid clothes, you have to expect to pay. However, your choice generally comes down to buying synthetics or cottons online or natural, tough stuff that looks good from people at Knight Realms.
I will shamelessly plug Lauren Seyler here. She makes clothes in the 17th-18th century style, but it looks pretty good for Knight Realms. Lauren has made most of what I (Cyric McKraegar IG) and Frank (Colin McKraegar) wear in game, and know a bunch of other people have at least one article of clothing from her. I highly suggest getting at least a linen shirt from her. A white, sleeveless shirt is going pretty cheap, with one with sleeves being a little more expensive. I'll see if I can find her Etsy site and some price and post them here later today.

What these guys said, about all the talented seamstresses here at the game.
Personally, I used KR as an impetus to get creative and have some fun making my own costumes (and to finally buy a sewing machine, which is holy crap the best thing i've ever owned), and see the more skilled people about heavy-duty alterations (Tina, for example, added pockets and arm-holes to my cloak, and did an awesome job at it).
Kinda depends what your costume is I guess. If it's a simple tunic, tabard, etc, there's really no reason you couldn't manage it yourself.

As Tom noted, the Web Links are a good start. Also hit the "I'm looking for..." post at the top of this board, and don't forget eBay!
When searching for garb, check for "SCA" in your search. You're likely to find a bunch of stuff for that group that won't turn up under "larp," and at good prices.

Please take some time to frequent your local Thrift shops, like GoodWill, Salvation Army and others
Many times great treasures are discovered for just a buck or two very little more
Wool Blamkets
Sleeping bags
boots
Fur and leather coats that can be cut up
the large womens sections generally will have tunic type pull over stuff
This is especially true for anyone playing a gypsy
You won't find any boffer type stuff put use your imagination
I found three different alumnim steins of the 1/2 to 1 gallon size for about $3 each

If you are looking for weapons and aren't too excited about paying over $100, you should shoot me a PM as I currently have materials to make latex weapons for less than a normally outstanding price. Depending on what you need, I might be able to help you out.

Hit up ebay. If you do a LARP search you can sometimes get really great deals on costuming there.

(lol long time reply due) okay since i now have a general dicrection on where do go with my Pc. Tyra, we spoke before about your awesome furs of doom once i come up with the money i will PM You ASAP. I've been looking around Ebay and yup im seeing some pretty good stuff at cheap prices. Considering im making huge budget cuts with some things i think i can get a pretty good costume and cheap weapon. But if anyone at all sees a two handed mace. I don't know whats up with me and maces. Just big hammers go BOOM! lol i knew i was a barbarian at heart.

As far as weapons go, if you don't mind using a boffer, myself or me mate Shane both make boffers and would be glad to help you out there. A caveat though: boffers usually do not last as long as latex weapons and don't look as good. However, they are significantly cheaper and easy to repair. If you really want the look of the latex weapons, check out Dark Knight armory. They've got some comparatively decent prices on weaponry.
