Hi! I am new to Knight Realms and I am excited to attend an event and play a Barbarian! I am interested to see if anyone here has a 2H sword that is KR legal that I could purchase. Thank you :D

Hi, Kyle!

I'm pretty excited about this weekend too--and as one of the New Player Marshals here, it's my job to help make sure you have a great time at the event. If you need help before the event or during it, we'll be there for ya.

With regard to swords for purchase, typically on Friday nights before game begins, there is a guy in the corner of the Inn who sells rather affordable weapons and props on behalf of Larp Exchange. They're well-balanced too! Definitely have a look there if you don't have other offers before then.

Otherwise, if you can't find someone willing to sell you one or let you borrow, ask at Logistics if you can borrow a two-hander for the weekend.

Thank you very much for your helpful response :)

I don't know if I will be able to attend THIS weekend since I haven't done any kind of gear prep and only signed up this morning but I am looking forward to attending in September to be sure!

My only followup question would be are there any LARP gear websites with weapons I could purchase that are legal at KR? I have been looking at places like Darkknightarmoury.com but I am unsure if the LARP weapons they sell would be usable.

Thanks again and I look forward so much to joining.

Dark Knight Armoury and Medieval Collectibles are popular choices. For garb and accessories, there are many, many options (Etsy, Ebay, and thrift stores are also viable options). If you need help finding--or having something made, whether garb or weapons--check out the Knight Realms Costumers Forum on Facebook. It's an unofficial group, but there's a good deal of KR players there who should be able to help find/make what you're looking for!

Hey my names Conor. Welcome!

As one of the LMs, it isn't labeled safe until a LM or RM looks at it. I've said yes to one model and no to the exact same a year later because where they bought it switched foam, cores, manufacturing, etc.

Just stating this so you know that there is still a chance it's not approved(unlikely but possible) even if another player has it.

It's unlikely, since most places will make the product softer rather than harder, or switch to a core that doesn't whip, but they do sometimes go the opposite route.

Right! Thanks, Conor. I forgot that part.

Even if you buy a sword from a vendor that many other people have used, still have it checked by either a Rules or Logistics Marshal (or even James C. Kimball himself--the Director).

Thank you that is very helpful and good to know! I appreciate the heads up. The last thing I want to do is drop a bunch of money on a weapon I cannot use. So maybe my best bet would be to purchase my weapon from an on site vendor and then go from there. Thanks again gentlemen you have been incredibly helpful and insightful!

Grimkjell that is so generous of you thank you so much :) I am unable to attend this weekend's event but I am looking to be at events this Fall. If I am unable to secure a reliable sword of my own before then I will definitely take you up on that.
