Hey everyone. My name's Dave but some of you might know me from the Avatar Larp as the player behind Angus McQ. I'm pretty interested in participating in KR, but like any new player I have a few questions. I won't be able to attend until the fall, but it should give me ample time to create a character.
1. If commoner is chosen as the starting profession, allowing the player an additional 10 Build, can the full 20 Build be used off the bat.
2. Are there different levels of specific trade proficiency, e.g. baker? Under the commoner list under restrictions it lists a max of 4 per trade. Could some examples be given?
3. What's public transportation like around these campsites? Any bus/train stations in a nearby radius?
4. I couldn't find anywhere the rules concerning firearms or modern computerware. Is it me or does this game not have any?
Thanks, Dave

Hi Dave...
3. I do know that the NJ location of Camp Sacajawea closest transport hub is the NJ Transit Dover station. I used to take the train to that station and someone would pick me up from there for a 10 minute drive to the camp site. There are also a number of taxi sesrvices that can take you to the camp site from thet train station, but it costs like $30 or so.
4. If you mean IG firearms or IG computerware, there is none. We are a fantasy genre game, much in the vein of D&D and LotR.

Number 4 was a joke. A bit like dry ice in its humor.

Regarding your first two questions:
1. Yes.
2. Trade Proficiency is listed on the character card as Trade Proficiency +1. If you buy more, the number after the + goes up and that's the only distinction in that department. Each purchase of the skill grants you more commodity cards for the Trade skill that you have taken Trade Proficiency in.
Sorry for the delay in responding; it looks like your joke derailed everyone...

Oh yeah.. and I'll politely ask the canadians to not hang out with Dave... there's nothing wrong with you or him... but for some reasons Canadians have always gotten Dave in big trouble.

No, there are no level restrictions. Buy as many as you'd like.

Clarificaiton - you can only buy 4 per trade, and you can only have a total of 2 kinds of trades, maximum.
So you can have:
Trade: Farmer (Consumable) and Trade Prof 4 for that trade
Trade: Carpenter (Durable) and Trade Prof 4 for that trade
And from there, you can pick up other trades - as long as they are (Consumable) or (Durable), and not (Luxury) or (Wearable). Also, you cannot have more than 4 Trade Profs per Trade.
So if you really, REALLY wanted to, you could have something like 20 Trade Profs in Consumables. But you'd be carrying around a lot of trade cards and flood the market to the point that no one would buy them any more, because no one needed them. In the end, you'd be wasting the Build.
One of my PCs has 4 Profs in Wearables, and 4 in Luxuries. That's actually a bit more than I can practically use - I usually have a few cards still left over by the end of the event that I wind up giving away for free. Any more than that is usually a waste, unless your character is basically planning on being the trade broker for the town, swapping everything for everyone else as a service.

This service would be immensely popular, methinks. I'd pay out gold to get my requirement's worth of all types, all at once, rather than trying to hunt down the different types individually.

Would you pay a premium, for that is where the broker makes her profit.

Depends on what your definition of "premium" is, methinks.
