OK, so I am new, (one event) and i had borrowed a boffer sword. I am looking to make my own. I have the closed cell foam for around the PVC but where can i find Open Cell foam for the tip, I was at home depot and they looked at me like i had 2 heads asking for open cell. Can I get it at like an AC Moore and is there any brand you recommend for the foam. Thanks for the help folks.

Frost King makes a 2" square strip, 3' long, for AC units that works PERFECT for this stuff.  They sell it at Home Depot.

Craft stores like A.C. Moore have a green foam that works really well for thrust tips and axe heads.

In a related matter, how do I make throwing knives?
I know they are to be "core-less," but am I supposed to use squishy foam, hard foam, closed cell foam... what sort of foam are we looking at?

Alex, please do not answer rules-based questions unless you are a Rules Marshal.

All throwing weapons need to be Open Cell foam, or there are also coreless latex weapons sold as well.
