You Got another VGXPOer xD

Hello everyone, I am another person that went to the VGXPO and had the pleasure of talking to the members there and I gotta say I'm hooked on going now. I will defiantly go for my first time and from there from what I've read, I most likely will be a repeat member. My name is Walter some may know me from the VGXPO as the OMGWTF Guy (I had a lot of stickers all over my body long story )  My friend most likely will attend as well but they say a lot of things, but wither or not they attend I will. I plan on being an Sylvan Elf, and am currently working on my costume (Yay Walmart!). If I have any questions I know you guys will help me because of the well built friendly community here. Looking forward to it and cant wait to see those winter events.

Hey Walter!  I remember you... I was the big guy behind the counter.  I'm glad you decided to come!  We'll be looking forward to it!

I was about to say "Thank you for including your name in your post, you might want to make a signature that as your OOG name in it for future posts (as it's a requirement you have your real name on every post).  It will help us get to know you better, and don't have to worry about accidently forgetting "  But Wally is a faster typer than me   so I'll just say welcome!!

    If you have any general questions just fire them out.  Just a reminder, make sure that your signature has your OOG name (I wasn't sure if you name was Sam, or you are hoping to name your character Sammy)

Hey Walter/Sam!

It's great seeing you guys posting up here! It was a blast meeting you at the booth, and any rules questions that you're confused about and need clarifying, there is a rules questions forum and no question is too crazy to ask.
Additionally, if you're looking for costuming or had an idea of getting something made by one of the many seamstresses that go to the game, if you post something up in the Marketing forum people are real attentive about answering.

As amusing as it is to think about at times, 'hitting below the belt' is definitely discouraged at Knight Realms.  It was definitely wonderful to talk to you all at the booth, and I am glad to see you all coming out and posting.

Samantha is my neice's name   We call her Sam... or sometimes Mantha, but that always reminded me of Mothra... but I digress

1. is there a special currency for KR?

2. I'm want to be a half-elf (elf/human) but on the rules it says I need to be one or the other. it kinda lost me. do I need to kill off one of my parents in my storyline or something?? o.o; 

3. the fees for the game is easy to understand except the membership fee and the pay at the door fee if you have the membership fee, do you still need to pay upfront to get in?

4. my sister wants to know if a hobbit gets nervous can they play stupid?

5. last but not least, if we wanted to try cooking duty could we?

Heya, I'll see if I can answer a couple of these questions.

1. Yep, we've got our own currency!
2. You've got to be one or the other, but you can pull it off roleplay-wise so your character can act more human than elf. For instance, you were abandoned as a baby and raised by humans or something.
4. If you wanna get a feel for what being in the kitchen is like at an event, you can volunteer in the kitchen any time for a few hours. Additionally, if you volunteer, you can get service points which is a neat bonus.

This first one was a rules question - Emily should have waited for a Rules Marshal to answer, as its more technical than that.  There is not playable race that is a "half" anything.  While an elf and a human can have child, when it is born it is either one race or the other (there are some races that cannot have children together at all, but thats listed in the rulebook somewhere).  So while history wise, yes you'd be a half elf, biologically you'd be one or the other, with the full racial rules and requirements thereof.

3. the fees for the game is easy to understand except the membership fee and the pay at the door fee if you have the membership fee, do you still need to pay upfront to get in?

Membership Fee is a once a year fee collected in something like April, but it varies.  It is completely seperate from the Event Fee.  So, during the month that said Membership fee is collected, a player has to pay both the Monthly event fee and the membership fee.  But that shouldn't be anytime soon.

I have no idea what you mean by this.  In regards to what? 

There is a separate section in the rules about the Kitchen.  My first Event I gravitated naturally to the kitchen, where Amber set me to work cleaning bottles.  After a couple of hours she told me to go play and gave me service points.  When Jason (Jaron20) first came, he almost lived in the kitchen in his spare time.  It is a ton of fun IG, as one meets some really unusual IG people there.  Those who prepare feast are almost always in need of extra hands.  Inquire IG and you will likely be accommodated.

ok I think I get it....  I like elves, but I'm not uesd to being racist. so I may start out as a human anyway
but it means I might not go to any events as a player till I make more money x.x;

Any race is capable of breeding with another race. However, the children of cross-breeding are always entirely one or the other of the parents’ races. The race of all children need not be consistent, but each of them must be one race only.

So yes, a Jaxuarian could breed with an Orc (shudder).  The resultant child would be either a Jax OR an Orc, in its entirety, and probably be very, very confused.

Being a high elf is great.  That heightened sense of self worth, knowing your better than 90% of the people that your with.

However, it is balanced by the neck aches caused by keeping one's nosed up in the air at all times.
