Thickness does not matter so far as a bear's olfactory sense is concerned. Polar bears have been known to scent food at over a mile, and while studies are not practical on NJ bears, where food is abundant and much closer, they are related. I keep all unsealed food in the kitchen unless I am carrying it to eat during that period, like a piece of fruit in my pocket.

I can't afford real rose right now but maybe someday, it all depends on how much I make that month, maybe I can eventually talk my partents into letting me plant a rose bush at one point to save on costs. I'll have to think about what I am going to do with them and the food.

Alright, I've gotten through most of the rules, skipping over a few things that I'll need to come back to if I chose to change add or make a new character, and a few questions:
Could someone help me understand the system of professions a little better?
Floral wouldn't be a profession if it's not on the list is it?
It looks like a staff might be the best choice of weapon for me, is the ruling of my staff still applied?
And I am not sure about the whole build points and body points, etc, for a floral/healing gypsy, what would the ratios and points be?

hello and welcome to our game.. i was reading your post about the wooden staff and i wasnt sure if somone answered this question yet. unfortunetly the answer is no and it is besouse although you may be certion that you will not attack with it.. we know how hard it is to resist your natural defence mecanism and start blocking attacks with it.. and see you will have people using both foam and latex weapons.. and neither of those fend well against wood so the possibility of the wood damaging or breaking these foam or latex weapons is high. i do appalogise for that .

Pretty much you can have any profession you can imagine as long as you get the okay for it. Something like having a stall that sells flowers could certainly be used for your character's profession. So no worries there. You would likely have it as a profession giving you access to Luxury type commodity cards each event.
Do you have any other specific questions about Trades?

There are literally scores of trades able to be played in the game, but they fall into four broad categories based upon what they produce. The categories are Durable, Wearable, Consumable and Luxurious. Upon acquiring a trade (one can possess two trades) one is entitled to receive one commodity card of the appropriate category each Event. This is given at sign-in. Each trade possessed can have up to four proficiencies, each of which bestows an additional three cards of the type appropriate to the trade.
Acquiring a trade is, in my opinion, a fine way to broaden the scope of your character and meet folk whose paths might otherwise never be crossed.

Trades and Professions are two separate things in out game. A Profession refers to the list(s) of skills that given character has access to. For example A Gypsy Healer character would be able to buy skills off of the Gypsy racial list and the Healer profession list. Additionally all characters have access to the list of Common skills.
Trades in our game are actually skills. Having a trade on your card gives a specific benefit in the form of a commodity card.
So that being said what you have described so far is that you would like to play a Gypsy Healer who sells flowers. When you start to put together the skills you want to start this character with, you can choose from the gypsy racial list, the Common list, and the Healer list.
I should point out that you do not actually have to take a trade to be able to sell a flower in the game. There is a specific game mechanic that taking the skill "Trade: (whatever)" will have. To learn more about the system of rules that the Trade skill plays into you should have a look in the Online Rulebook in the supplemental rules section for a document called "Trade System."

Each profession has its own Body to Build ratio and limits. These are found at the top of the list. For Healers it reads:
Body Points: (2) 1/1
Which means that a healer can spend up to two Build each event on Body. That is the (2).
The 1/1 means that one Body is added for each Build spent.
Healing points are gained at the ratio stated. For every one Build spent a healer gains three Healing points.

Ahmetia, sorry to disrupt your questions, but we have a very strict policy on who is allowed to offer answers to rules questions.
In the past, we have had people who thought they were being helpful by answering cause problems because either 1) They were wrong, and caused confusion, or 2) People assumed that since they were answering rules questions, that they were an authority in the game, when they were not. This results in people getting rulings that are wrong, followed by "But so-and-so told me this was OK to do!" when that person did not have the OK to say such things.
Please keep asking, and we will make sure you get the answers you need from someone who is qualified to answer them properly.

I'd take it from the Herbal Recipe for now. Herbalism (Alchemy) is rather different from healing abilities and requires a whole different set of points to use. It'll be best to beef up your normal healing before pursuing another form.

He's saying that it uses a different type of points that you need to buy, and it would be more worthwhile to you to just focus on healing points so you can actually use your healing abilities.

Don't worry... it's a regular thing here, Charles getting scolded. In fact, the moment he doesn't get scolded for something is when you should worry. Just kidding... it's as Geoff said before... they wanna make sure the right people are the ones answering your questions and making sure you get the rigth answers.
