Hey guys,
A friend of mine has been hyping Knight Realms to me and it sounds like it could be a lot of fun. However, there is one thing that is giving me a lot of pause...
I am somewhat put off by the fact that "Torturer" is a main class.
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not against good role-playing even if it occasionally goes down some dark paths but I honestly have no desire to roleplay a torture fantasy scene.
So, am I concerned over nothing or would this be a legitimate issue for me?

Hi my name is Sean and I am a new player marshal.
For our Torturer class there are a lot of things taken into considerations for this very reason. If you are ever uncomfortable about a scene you can always turn to a marshal (or the player) and let them know and the scene would stop. We also require all "torture" scenes to have a marshal (some one in charge) overseeing all scenes that could be rough for a player or players.
We want to keep all players safe and having a good time. In my 5 years of playing I have only been involved with a handful of scenes that were discussed with me before anything happened.
I hope that this puts your mind at ease about the class.

Thanks Sean,
That certainly does help relieve some of my concerns. While torture is not something I want to get involved with in my RP, I'm glad that you take your players feelings on the matter seriously.
Hope to see you at my first event when I'm able to make it!

Hello Mike! I'm Dani, also a New Player Marshal.
The safety and overall health of the players are very important to us! If there is ever a moment you were to feel uncomfortable about something, you can always tell a marshal and we can help you out.
If it helps, torture type scenes are not common, especially intense ones.
Hope that helps!

Hey Mike C,
I understand your concerns. Generally most who RP those scenes are really fantastic about asking about a player's comfort level. They are always performed under supervision from a marshal and the players can always speak up at any time to say "I'm not comfortable with this."
I play a character with the "interrogate" ability and I am really really careful when I act that out and always ask about player comfort beforehand. I also emphasize the importance of not touching other players without their permission. As players we understand that comfort levels with different RP scenes will vary widely. For instance, I am pretty uncomfortable with any exorcism and some of the religious RP to I just make sure other players are aware of that in any given scene that may involve it and if I feel uncomfortable in a scene I speak up.

Happy to hear that, Mike!
Hi, I'm Jeff, another New Player Marshal. There's "only" three weeks until the next event. If you have any more questions or need any clarifications before then, feel free to post them here and we'll do our best to answer them.
Otherwise, see you at game!

Mike,
I'm John, one of the safety marshals.
Rest assured, there are many here who are cool with intense RP and commentary said during such scenes and there are those who have issue with it and that's cool.
If something is going on that is messing with you mentally, say something or afterward, pull yourself out of game for a spell. I've done it as have a few others...
Bottom line, there is no shame in doing so and absolutely no one should give you grief over it and if they do, they just don't get it & likely never will. Its a "Them Problem", to paraphrase one of the marshals, and not yours.
