Psion question

Psion question was created by Moostrav Potrevski ()
So telekinesis is a very situational skill that psions can have, and I got it. I was thinking of ways I could put it to use and was wondering if you could use it to block. What I mean by that is if I have a buckler can I ask a Marshall to use it for me and try to stop incoming attacks?

Aw thought that would be something cool. It mentions you can't attack but says nothing about defending.

The Rule Of Interpreting Rules
When interpreting the rules of the game, the base assumption is that you cannot use the rules to accomplish something In-Game, unless a rule specifically states you are able to do so. For example, the 1st Rank Fire spell "Fire Strike" does not state it can be used to ignite flammable materials – therefore, you cannot use it to do so. This may be overruled by an OOG marshal that is monitoring an encounter, but only on a case-by-case basis – precedent does not matter in this rule. That being said, these rules have been updated many times over the years; there are bound to be loopholes, or technicalities that are not in the spirit of the rules. If you feel you find something that isn’t in the spirit of the rules, do not take advantage of the flaw, post it on the forums to be clarified.

Over the last 3 events, various Psions used it to extremely great effect during rituals and RP heavy scenes.

Out of morbid curiosity how does one actually go about using the effect of weilding a weapon with greater telekenisis? Do you need an npc or something?

I'm seconding the question about Greater Telekinesis, while also noting that the Psion needs the weapon skill to manipulate the weapon even though they're not physically touching it.

But the remote is all the way over there!

I'm just saying, there might be something difficult to reach and may require more than getting off the couch and taking a few steps. Maybe it's floating just out of reach. Keep in mind the weight restrictions for each tier of Telekinesis.

You provide your own NPC for greater telekinesis.

The other ranks of telekinesis have all sorts of uses, just are not applicable in combat really

And just like with necromancy, you can't borrow shift NPCs, right?

Another question if I may ask.
While in battle last event my arm was broken in game. I believe it says in the rule book that although you have to throw a spell packet to use some psionic abilities ,for example "stumble", it still is projected as coming from your mind. I was told I couldn't throw spell packets with that arm, but I still fail to see how that would have effected an attack comes from your mind. Was that the correct thing to do?

Psionic Disciplines of 1st to 3rd rank produce no visual or audible effect. The Psion must still throw a spell packet and connect with the target for the effect to work, and the target may attempt to dodge the spell packet. This method of attack and defense represents the Psion's mind attempting to grapple with the target, and the target's mind attempting to evade.

If both of my arms are broken, can I use Greater Telekinesis to pick up my sword, and then wield it with my own OOG arm, leaving my IG jelly arms flailing about uselessly? Or must I have an NPC hold it for me?

And how does disarm interact with a greater telekinesized weapon?

For future reference, Rules Marshals are far more likely to see Rules questions on that forum. While I'm able to answer your questions while you're still new, it's still a better idea to post there.

It was decided in another thread regarding casting spells while under the effects of manacles or being held, that a Psion could still cast:

A character that is concentrating has no requirements in regards to freedom of movement, or being able to speak or hear, to cast.

So being bound & gagged has no effect if you are a Healer or Psion. If you need to deliver a packet OOG, simply deliver it as normal, and quickly return to the "bound" state via RP. If anyone asks, quietly let them know that you did not move IG, and concentration casting does not require movement, IG.
