Hi, Caroline!

Welcome to Knight Realms. I'm Jeff and I'd be happy to help you create a character sheet. Feel free to message me here over the forums or on Facebook--Diane and I are mutual friends, so finding me should be a breeze.

Cheers!

-Jeff

Hello! I'm Diane's husband! I wanted to make sure you knew who I was before you got to KR, so you can know you have a friend on-site when you make it. :)

Hello, I’m Justin and I’m a new player. I had a question about Saturday event times. If the event runs all day, is it acceptable if we are arrive at a specific time, after 1:30 for example? I only ask since I occasionally get called into work on Saturday mornings.

Hi Garth!

It's definitely acceptable if you arrive then. The only thing you need to keep in mind aside from signing is as normal, is that if you stay and play for 12 hours or fewer, you still need to have a 2-hour NPC shift. Be sure to let the Marshal behind the desk know. They might need to write "See James" on your character card because only certain people besides the Director are allowed to accept payment for admission.

But if you're arriving around that time on Saturday and staying through to the end of the event, you will need a full NPC shift. What I'd recommend in that case is signing up for the 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. shift if possible, to get it out of the way and minimize changing in and out of garb.

If you have any other questions or if I didn't answer that well enough, let me know either way.

-Jeff

Hello Jeff, thank you for the info. I just have a few questions about shifts. What does a 2 hour NPC shift include? Will I still be able to participate in the game? Please advise. Thank you! - Justin

A two-hour NPC shift includes the same as the standard four-hour shift, but it's half the length, so you'll have fewer roles than you otherwise would. You would absolutely still be able to participate in the game and would have the other 10 hours to play your PC. If you decide to stay for more than 12 hours, you would take a full shift.

Understood. One more question I have is if we need to be in attire for Friday check in? Please advise. Thanks!

You don't need to be, but if you want to, you are more than welcome to do so. Check-in usually takes place three to four hours before the game hits. Please make sure your garb is warm enough, both for hanging out while waiting to check in and for the rest of the weekend. It should be chilly. Don't worry so much if you find yourself wearing gloves and a hat or ear muffs--when the weather comes to bite us, we're not so strict on how period appropriate you look.

Sounds good. Finally, is the event overnight? And if so should I bring a tent or are there assigned sleeping quarters?

The event is overnight yes--both nights, actually! You're welcome to bring a tent. Before the snowy season begins, we will still have pre-set tents on platforms inside them that have camp mattresses inside them. The Inn and the Barn are first-come, first-serve when it comes to bunls; claim an empty one and its yours. Some rooms in the Inn are reserved (I think it's just two of them, but I could be wrong) for one of the lands and the other for our photographers.

All of the other buildings are reserved for members of the various lands and guilds that you can join as your character. If you're unable to find a bunk in the Inn or the Barn (but you should be pretty easily) or one of the tent platforms, come find me or another Player Rep and we should be able to find an extra bunk in one of the other buildings.
