Videogame Volunteers Needed

VGXPO, America's Videogame Expo, is returning to the Pennsylvania Convention Center on November 21, 22, and 23. We will be gathering the greatest videogames, from 80's arcade classics to the latest PC LAN titles, for a celebration of entertainment technology that will amaze the entire region. But...

We Need Your Help!  As the Volunteer Coordinator, I'm responsible for gathering hundreds of helpers to pull off this big, Big, BIG event.  In addition to videogames, we'll be showcasing many other genres of pop culture, including movies, the internet, comics, anime, and, of course, Live Action Role Playing (starring Knight Realms).  A quick check of the calendar will reveal that VGXPO is the same weekend as the Awards Banquet, so I understand if folks are unavailable on Friday, November 21st.

If you have ever enjoyed the thrill of gaming, here's your chance to give back a little. As a volunteer, you'll be part of a community of gamers who represent the very best that the Delaware Valley has to offer.

Here are the details:

Minimum commitment: 8 hours
Minimum age: 16 (under 18 need parental permission)
VGXPO starts: Friday, November 21, 2008
and runs thru: Sunday, November 23, 2008

All Volunteers get:

- A t-shirt, access to the volunteers lounge (snacks and goodies)

- A full access pass to all VGXPO events (excluding Video Games Live)

- Behind-the-scenes access to the Expo

…and, for everyone that works 24 hours or more (3 days), we'll provide a special "thank you" gift.

We need many different types of volunteers. Here are just of few of the jobs we need staffed for this year's VGXPO:

At VGXPO
- Set Up (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)
- Break Down (Sunday and Monday)
- Game Competitions Refs
- LAN Center Help
- Museum / History
- A/V Specialists
- Meeting Room Door Security
- Meeting / Function Planners (work in meeting rooms - help run events)
- Photographers
- Videographers
- After Hours Help (Friday and Sat 7pm to 1am)

Pre VGXPO
- Street Team (go to events hand out fliers - distribute to stores)
- Web Content Producers (at NBC10)
- Program guide production (at NBC10)
- Event readiness - getting everything tested, packed and ready for the expo

Post VGXPO

- Break down exhibits
- Load up packed exhibits into trucks

If you can help, please visit: www.videogame.net/vgxpo/volunteers/ and sign up today! Thanks very much!
