The shield design needs to be improved with a quick release grip. A shield is good for defending against biting attacks from zombies (keep contamination down), but if the zombies grab the shield, your arm is going with it.
As for the bat... a metal leg/crowbar type of design would be better. Good for crushing skulls of zombies and wedging things open when needed.
