based off the novels by Weiss and Hickman.  its a cartoon movie, book 1 is the movie.

Keiffer Sutherland does the voice for raistlin

Michelle Trachtenberg does Tika.

Lucy Lawless does Rivermoon.

I forget the rest.

The first movie looks about on par with the first book:

A steaming pile of horse manure.

Don't get me wrong, the books began to improve after that one (and actually got good for Legends and afterwards), but let's face it, the first book was HORRIBLE.  Even the authors admitted it.

And we can all be honest, all other fantasy works of the past few decades are utter rubbish when compared to A Song of Ice and Fire.

PS: No matter how raspy he makes his voice, there is no f'ing way Jack Bauer can pull off Raistlin.  Seriously, I would have gone with Edward Norton.  Disbelievers, watch Kingdom of Heaven.

Martin's Ice and Fire is more or less my inspiration for 'Daedri' not that the character exists in any way in the books as any one character that is. Carrying an air of realism around you while playing your character is what really entertains me.

I just wish he would finish what he started, that guy really knows how to leave a cliffhanger.

All that said if you want to talk about a REAL master of fantasy, lets face it. Robert Jordan  takes hot steamy dumps on Tolkien and Martin. Book # 13. And its only just begining.

Actually I tore the last few pages out of book 3 and stopped reading replacing it instead with a small tupperware filled with a microwaved fart.

Aside from previous asplosions regarding the late Mr. Jordan, I think a lot of people will agree with me that Martin's books blow Wheel of Time out of the f'ing water.  The series started fantastically, but slowly (and I mean slooooooowly) devolved into a fantasy soap opera quagmire that I, for one, only continued to read because of the time commitment I had put in already.

Now that Mr. Jordan has passed away and someone else may finish book 13, I don't think it's worth it.  Look what happened when outside authors tried to write stories based on Robert Howard characters.

And let's be honest, Jaime Lannister would pwn Rand al'Thor in the face while he was crying like a little girl over 'going crazy'.  Not to mention that Martin shows strong female characters in a realistic medieval setting, unlike Jordan having to give them super-powers or insanely ridiculous combat abilities to make them equal.

Jon Snow is the best character ever.  I just hope to God Martin doesn't decide to kill him off.

Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall take no wife, hold no lands, father no children. I shall wear no crowns and win no glory. I shall live and die at my post. I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the fire that burns against the cold, the light that brings the dawn, the horn that wakes the sleepers, the shield that guards the realms of men. I pledge my life and honor to the Night's Watch, for this night and all the nights to come.

No one should ever wonder where I got my inspiration for Turin 2.0 ever again.

PS: This thread is officially hijacked.  Wonder if we should split it and jsut make a discussion about the awesomeness of ASOIAF.

Jon and Daenarys (sp) getting hitched and fighting off the others with the power of DRAGONS.

Jamie Lannister is the best character ever.

Wait no, it's Ned Stark.

Or Sir Arthur Dayne, the Sword of Morning.

Maybe the Hound?

I can't choose.

It's not fantasy, but the whole Ender's series by Orson Scott Card is absolutely fantastic, and one of the few books that I can actually say I enjoy as much as ASOIAF.  Give them a whirl.

Anyone who I may have offended talking critically about Jordans books, im sorry that your friend is dead.  Jordan if you can hear me, I really liked your descriptions of the nomadic bedouin type people. What was that one guys name, Rhuarc?

I think I would like to make a character based around that.

New Ender booklet, Gavin.  The Power of Gifts, IIRC.  Read it - naturally it is top shelf.  The concept is tht a brilliant (naturally) pacifist son of a preacher gets drafted for Battle School.  "They can force me to go, but the cannot make me fight."  Excellent presentation of ethical problems and their solutions.  I lent it to Norm (Ardin Silverbow).  As I mentioned on Charlie's Picks, well worth the time.  If you want, I'll have Norm bring it to the April Event and you can borrow it.  When in 6th or 7th grade, my son read the book at my urging and his entire class soon followed.  It was universally enjoyed.  My wife, who does not read much for fun and science fiction never that I knew, has read most of the series.  Ender and Harry Potter - those are her two habits.New Card paperback is about terrorism in the USA, but of the domestic sort.  Basically the nuts at both ends of the spectrum.  Acceptable.  If you are heavily into mysticism, try his Alvin Maker series, and he has some excellent shorts based in the mid 19th century USA where the war ended differently and magic exists.  For fun, "Froggie goes Acourting" cannot be beat.

No one mentions Tyrian, the Dwarf.  I like him - despite his flaws, he is real.  Martin is so late with the book, and the series is already overexpanded, which in this instance I do not mind.  When we took our Central Europe Napoleonic Battlefield Tour, I read the last book in between playing games at night.  They are all tough to put down, but knowing I had intervals over two weeks to finish it plus the transatlantic flight made me able to accept reading chapters at a time, as opposed to ignoring friends and family.

Pray, tell, what "family members" went with you on your Central Europe Napoleonic Battlefield tour, DSW?  And again, to set the record straight, although I have recommended the Ender series to my seventh graders (and am waiting for the copy/ies you said you'd give me for the book cart in my classroom) I have not myself read the Ender series.  I much prefer natural history and shall not bore your any more.
