I've been watching G4 a lot and it's got me thinking about whats my favorite game?
and I've come to say the gears of war 1 or 2 is my favorite because I never get sick of it.

What is everyone elses favorite game out there?

Too many answers to that question for me.  For pure longevity for me in the video gaming world, two series immediately come to mind: Dragon Quest (AKA Dragon Warrior here in the States through the late 80's and the 90's) and Wing Commander.  Whenever I'm bored, and truly in search of something to do, I'll often pop in one of the games of those two series, and lose myself for a while.

If in those two series, you ask me which are my favorite games...
Well, for Wing Commander, it's Wing Commander: Privateer, hands down.  Great game, great system, harkening back to a pre-Wing Commander favorite of mine, 'Elite'

In the Dragon Quest series, with all things being equal (and really the series has never changed in style, or gameplay, it's what makes it so endearing and enduring for me) I have to go with the 1986 original, simply because it was the impetus for my interest in roleplaying.  Without it, I wouldn't be a part of Knight Realms, and you all wouldn't be tortured with my presence every month. :)

I like a bunch of games, and for some reason the one that pops into my mind is Advance Wars (and the sequels). Really fun game, and I don't even really like turn-based RPG's. The only other turn based RPG I like is Disgaea. Anyone who plays video games consistently should definitely try out these two.

...and Cooking Mama, of course  :-X

Final Fantasy Tactics...

Final Fantasy Chess, how many hours did I chuck into that game?  Too many. :) Definitely the best of the Final Fantasy series in my opinion. :)

KING'S QUEST!!!!

or SPACE QUEST!!!

    or POLICE QUEST!!!

I never did get around to Police Quest, but King's and Space Quest were wonderful for what they were.  Space Quest especially with all the truly quirky humour thrown in.

hmmmm, so many, just so many to choose from

Wing commander privateer is one favourite for me, System shock as well. Duke Nukem 1 and 3d. Total annilation (still good today!) Dune 2 (wormsign approaching from the south) Original warcraft, Quest for Glory...Hehehehehhe such amazing games. (Seriously, look for Quest for glory 1 VGA version). Dungeon keeper (for the evil people here) Even Dark legion (boardgame style game, not the RTS) and of course Master of orion 1 and 2.

Phew...
Man, most of those are oldies....

I agree with all the Civilization games... though Tom is right, I think Civ 2 was the best, though the fascist expliot was too good to ignore...  I remember a game that was down to three nations, one that worshipped me, and the other that was friendly with me, and I nuked the one that was just friendly with me, moved in an army of engineers, and rebuilt... that's what nations that don't worship me get hahaha.

If we kick it old school... the Ultima series... and esp Ultima 2... I loved the infinite boat exploit...

If we kick it real old school... I loved pitfall harry.

Ultima IV - VI.  The facinating thing about them was the morality and choices they included, where in some cases, there is no wrong answer, and in some cases, there is no right answer.

pc: i think everquest wasted more of my life than any other single activity, but no mmo to this point has ever been able to grab me liek that did.

play station: definately final fantasy tactics, i spent so many hours playing that game, i think i dedicated a whole summer to completely getting everything from the hidden characters to the hidden dungeon with all the special items.

ff7 was a close second tho.

sega: kings quest ftw!! i still play it sometimes.

super nes: fianl saga or 7 saga or something like that and tied with that is the legend of zelda for that system.

Let's see how old school we can go.

Commodore 64 - Questron - still love the game for the sake it allowed you to kill off annoying townspeople. Downside was waiting 1/2 hr for the game to load.

I do not play computer games, save chess, but my others, in no special order are:

Civilization
Diplomacy
Any of the Command at Sea Series

And for beginners (I still enjoy them)
Tactics II
Midway

And for monster games, La Bataille de la Moscova, the maps alone of which take up an area 4" x 6"

30 years ago I bought an Atari and it cost 800 bucks.  That is around 3 grand today.  And it sucked as a computer, all things considered.  People were raving about the games and they sucked too.

Now, correspondence chess - that was good before computers ruined it.

PBM diplomacy, first rate

And of course, Gunboat Empires, through which I met two of James' half brothers, was an experience of gaming never since equaled.

I also run D&D just about every week, but didn't list it since I haven't had  PC in over 8 years.
