I remember his coverage of President Kennedy's assassination--he was on the air for hours without his suit coat, something that was quite unheard of at the time, but then, so was shooting a president.

92, a good run to be sure, but match that with his incredible impact, being THE face of world events and how the message and information was translated to the US and the world, and it can fill you with awe. With all the avenue's of information today, and the massive evolution of the media in general (and not all good), its hard for those who didn't grow up in his era to understand what it meant to hear from a face/voice and have a nation connect with that one person, and especially through the tenuous times of his tenure. A true loss in more ways than could be expressed in words.
