Mad Props to anyone who can recognize what this is:

(Diane doesn't count - she forwarded it to me.)

Due to be released in Japan on Dec. 10th, 2010.  11 months (plus however long to translate / subtitle / torrent it) can't pass soon enough...

Whatever it is, it is horrible, sort of like the Clutch Cargo series when I was a child.

I got one of my first jobs due to my knowledge of this show.  I worked for an anime store long ago... and the boss had a quiz for his employees.  I got the bonus questions as it was about Star Blazers.  Space Battleship Yamato (aka Starblazers) was an awesome show.  Nice to see a live action remake.

The Yamato!! Yep, I watched Starblazers, and just about every other anime show that aired here when I was growing up.

Now, the real Yamato (and sister ship, Mushashi) were worth fighting.  I played the space game - once.

That was the premise of the animated series, Charlie - they needed a hull that was pre-built, but hidden from sight, to rebuild, so they used the Yamato's corpse which was under the sea bed and made it space-worthy for its mission.  Needless to say, the symbolism of the Japanese flagship rising up from the grave to fight off an invading force that is attacking using radiation bombs is lost on few - even I got it when I was a kid.

When I was in high school, Starblazers ran right before Robotech, which ended about 5 minutes AFTER I needed to be on my bus.  Needless to say there were many latenesses.
