...Check this one out! It's a modded maverick--

Any idea what he used as a base model?

That's not a modded nerf gun.  That's a real bolter built for Joe B. to snuggle with at night.  ;)

That is a fantastic mod. I think they used an N-Strike as the base for the front cocking mechanism and the clip feed instead of the rotating chamber.

It's nicely disguised.  The inner workings, grip, trigger, and barrel I'm 90% sure, are the front 2 thirds, of the back half  of a Longshot.  They chopped and channeled it, and then made a big ol custom slide housing to use the slide bolt action.  While it undoubtedly looks great, from a technical standpoint, I hope there's still a way to clear jams, as the slide housing looks like it covers over the breech.

I went hunting for it last night. While it definitely looks like it could be made from the base of a Longshot (same grip style, etc.), it's a Maverick, as Emily said in her original post. The guy's site is here: mordian7th.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html and he has some work-in-progress shots here: www.cold-moon.com/40k/Props/MadProps.htm

Isn't that the gun from Gears of War? Can that be used at Dystopia?

Yeah, thats a lancer.  As for the Dystopia question, that's better asked in the Dystopia forum.  KR is the place I go to so that I can just be a playa'.  ;)

This coming from a guy who LARPs.  ;)  When it comes down to it, I bet the very 1st boffers (made from plumbing supplies or "other stuff") were quite ingenious in their time.  :)
