OOG Job Networking

Ask anyone right now about life in the USA and they'll say its "tough", that the economy is "tough" and for those unlucky enough to find themselves looking for a job, that the job market is "tough" too; its like the USA has become one giant piece of grizzle and no matter where you look its stringy and unappetizing.

I have to agree, times are in many ways hard at the moment but despite the somewhat depressing state of affairs with the current economy, there are still many things that are good and fun and wonderful~ we get together once a month, sometimes even more than that, and beat each other up with PVC pipes wrapped in foam (or fancy PVC wrapped in foam and latex for those who have the cash to afford them) for the fun of it.

Which is what got me thinking. We are blessed in the KR community with a number of people with extraordinary talents and masterful experience in variety of fields. Why not take advantage of it and make our community even stronger at the same time?

For the employers amongst us, this could a great opportunity for you to snag a highly experienced and dedicated employee, and for those of you- like myself- who are actively looking to break into a certain industry or field, this thread can be a great way to OOGly network with the barbarians, drow, and everything else you meet IG (or at the very least, the people who play them )!

With respect to James and the rest of the KR staff, all of whom do a great job running this game and bringing us together, I wanted to make this thread in order to provide players new and old players a chance come together and help build their careers and the KR community.

Do you have teaching certification?

I would suggest taking the State civil service exam in NYS, NJ and PA to further your career in the interests you have listed.

Thanks for your advice. Right now I'm working on getting my certification, but I'm exploring other paths too because I hear that the prospects for English Teachers are scarily slim.  In the meanwhile I'm taking civil service exams and making as many opportunities as I can.

I also wanted to make this in the hopes that it might help connect some of the KR community with jobs.

Love all advice, opinions and suggestions.

Education: Working on an Associates in Audio Recording at Bergen Community College (projected graduating date: Spring 2013)
Info: Four Years working on Sound and Lighting for my High School's plays/shows/concerts, on and off working on other shows outside of school, Three years as a Sales associate for Toys R Us in Wayne,NJ, and I also have my own recording equipment.
Looking for: Anything in Sound(Live or Recording) or Lighting, Hopefully an internship but any possible experience/job I can get in Sound and/or lighting.
