We have a tent reserved in Kaladonia so we can set up with no issues there.
What time does the new player orientation start? And I think there is usually an event for newer players that night but I'm not sure when exactly.
Thank you for any help, hope to see you all there tomorrow.

Lay on is usually around 10, so you're fine! In the case that you ever do arrive after lay on, you can still check in at logistics to get your card. If James isn't there you'll just have to find him to pay.
New player orientation does have a scheduled time (I think 8 but it might be 9, I don't remember), but if your friend misses it, don't worry. We'll make sure he's up to speed, either by introducing him to a new player marshal or by going over stuff with him in logistics. Friday night there's sometimes a new player encounter around 1am, usually hooked at the inn.
I'm the monster marshal first shift this event, and Alice, my logistics marshal first shift, is also a New Player Marshal, so either of us will be happy to help if you do happen to arrive after lay on.
Please let me know if you have any questions, and we'll see you tomorrow night!!

That will help quite a bit though, thank you for the quick response.
Now just need to make sure I can sign up for main mod NPC shift.

If you want, you can have your friend message me and I'll try to get them up to speed before they arrive, and then they can get a refresher with Alice (who's really, really good). That ought to help, since there's a good deal of information to know and remember. If they--or you, for that matter--forget any of it, we'll be there to clarify, even for "silly" questions.
I'll send a PM in a minute.

EDIT: Training/orientation is at both 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on Friday night, so you had it right, Rachael. I'll be available during the event to answer any questions--let them know to put their fist or weapon on their head to signal they're OOG.

Player of the Month
Players
Due to the storm, many players and marshals were unable to attend so we would like to give this month’s player award to a few, of the many, who stepped up to go above and beyond. Thank you from James and all of the staff for your extra efforts.
Tom H. & Jackie M.
Both gave up most, if not all, of their PC time to cover many NPC roles and rules marshal issues. This was a huge help to the weekend director.
Christine B. and Sean M.
stepped up big time to help with kitchen clean-up, when many of the regular kitchen marshals were unable to attend.
Chris Latano
helped with the new player zone and the clearing of the post-feast tables that the attendees left undone.
JR
had a big hand in running the new player zone this event. He also brought his own chain saw and cleared many storm-downed trees to help out James and Ron.
