Does anyone know where to get the program without going through Adobe ? I'm looking to download it for free and not go through 30 day trials or such. I would really appreciate it.

actually, the price dropped for just the photoshop software (cs3 I believe) to close to $700...way too expensive

Please don't discuss pirating software on the KR forums. It *is* illegal, and could get us in trouble, even if it is a small chance.
It's OK, however, to talk about cheap or free alternatives... like the GIMP .

If you want to buy it, get a group of friends who also need the software and everyone go in a buy it. Adobe doesn't care if 3 ppl have the same s/n as long as you pay them. Personally i suggest getting the entire adobe cs package, b.c you might as well go for the gold plus its a better deal for the price. You're going to use all of the software anyway. Cs4 should be coming out soon so the price may go down.
heres a ink to where you can buy it

Please be mindful that if the package you are purchasing is not a multi-license package, you will not be able to run the program on more than one machine. Do yourself a favor before going in on a group package and make sure you will actually be able to legally benefit from doing so.

I agree. I'm running CS3 on 2 computers right now. Both had to be registered in my name.

Having used both Photoshop and the GIMP, trust me, it's absolutely worth getting the GIMP. It's FREE, and just about as good as Photoshop. It's great for people who want to do medium to advanced image editing without having to shell out the ridiculous prices for Photoshop.
And, you know, it's FREE.

I do rather agree about the GIMP. I use it pretty exclusively... Not that what I do with it is terribly intensive... But it suits every purpose I've found for it as so far.

I've got photoshop elements. It definitely can't do as much as those super pricey photoshops, but it's a lot cheaper, maybe like 30 dollars. If I can find my CD I can lend it to you to download it.
