As LARP becomes more popular, the technology and resources used to make props for it advances, offering props (specifically weapon props) that look better, are more durable, and are safer for everyone at the game.
Starting in 2013, Knight Realms will be making a move to only allow boffer arrows manufactured by
IDE Engineering
, or another, comparable company that is officially approved by Knight Realms, and listed in the rulebook. We are making this change to ensure the quality of the props being used at our events, and also to provide for the safety of our player base.
This change is being set for 2013 to allow time for people to purchase arrows. The store that they are purchased from does not matter - what matters is the style / brand of the arrow. Arrows can be purchased from a number of vendors, including (but not limited to):
For people concerned about the cost - the cost of supplies to make your own boffer arrows out of field arrows, foam, tape, etc. is only slightly less than purchasing a commercial arrow online. In order to help reduce costs, Knight Realms will also make an effort to have arrows for sale at events, either through a vendor on-site (the preferred method), or directly through the game (only as a last resort, out of respect to our vendors).
