Found: A Ring

Oh, I completely forgot until I found it in my things.

George and I found an interesting ring near the inn a couple of moons ago.

If you can tell me what it is capable of, you may have it back.

Word has reached me of your find, and oh my goodness, I would be so extremely excited if you have located one of the objects that was stolen from me when I arrived in Travance. My misfortune was rather extreme, and while two young and rather brave newcomers to the Proper tried to search down the thieves, they were unfortunately unsuccessful in their attempts, despite my extremely generous efforts to support them.

I do know it is unlikely, but the ring I am missing has quite a large stone (I would not want to discuss the specifics normally because I have had a few rather bad experiences, but I suspect, since it belongs to me, you would have already tumbled to that conclusion) and is set in a white gold. And as I always say, "if something goes missing, it usually belongs to the person who seeks it the most."

Does it have a shield shape on the front with a sword in the very middle?

When I say simple, I mean a plain iron ring that may have been a small chain link once.

It doesn't look like anything special, that's the trick of it perhaps.

My Dear Dr. Darkwood,

I fear my hopes are to be dashed, but if it doesn't have a very large and beautiful ruby or amethyst in it, it certainly doesn't belong to me. Really, why would someone wear something that looks like just a ring from some old bit of rusty armor, unless it has some very special attributes. And even then, one would think a person would fancy it up a bit.

Thank you for your diligent efforts to return this bauble to its rightful owner.
