Been Teaching Nonstop For Weeks, Send Opinions on Magic Philosophy was created by Terzak (TheArchMage)
I wrote a very verbose piece on my philosophy of magic and other pieces not an hour ago, and I set it on fire. I wrote a second one, and I've been revising it ever since. The short version is that I will not be going to the Quartz Mountain until I fully master the 'Conjure Seacraft' spell I've been mucking with, and I'm looking to ask each and every spellmonger (regardless of their font(s) of power) I can reach to tell me something a bit personal about their magic.
See, my teaching career has led me to believe that in spite of spells between casters generally having a shared effect, the means of reaching that effect differs drastically. What I am attempting to do is find out how different types of spellcasting, as well as different individuals, do what they do. I want to learn what schools of thought and what emotions allow you to make the impossible more possible.
My ideas of how my own magic worked were liberated before. Now I feel as if I have trained to carry and fill pails of the Weave within myself, and instead of commanding shapes of my energies as I once did, I instead empty one of the pails through a filter (such as Geomancy or Proelimancy) , with the size and the type of the filter determining the result. Instead of learning spells, I must learn now the 'casting out' of one of these pails interacts with these magical lenses, and thus how to conjure and manipulate more pails and more lenses. It is strange to me, yet effective. Organized. Ordered.
It is my hope that the means other spellmongers employ to produce these very similar end-result spells vary from my own perceptions. If I am lucky, the schools and styles all of you employ can be arranged into categories, categories that can be codified into official styles and schools based on the primary methods of wielding them. This may seem useless, and on a small scale, it is. Yet my business is one of education on a medium to large scale, and I believe that it would be convenient for teacher and student alike to have a name for the way they organize and use magic. It's much more verbose to say "I believe I carry metaphysical pails of light that I fill with the Weave and filter with spheres to use magic" than "I use the Pail School to describe how I warp reality."
Goodness, that last bit sounds much less professional than I was expecting.
Anyhow, if you've the time to spare, reach out to me here or at my residence in Darkwood to tell me more about your power and how you access it.
Kind regards to all,
-Terzak

Once upon a time, magic just seemed to flow from my fingertips. We are most connected with the Weave, after all. Ever since I was small I had a green thumb. Well, beyond that really. I always felt a sort of thrum when I had my hands buried in some soil or caring for my horse. It was only within the past year or so, I learned that was just nature's heartbeat.
It seems closed off to me now. I just... don't feel the same warmth.
In its stead is an insane heat, deep in my chest, like a wildfire...

There is both less and more to magic then you could understand. Ether it is a joke from Corsair, or the being itself is dull.
What you do, your habits and ticks, they merely foster a different energy. This energy manifests into what you think of as magic.
Magic doesn't exist, only ambiguous power.
All you do is dance around in circles until it listens to you.
Your not controlling it,
never have,
never will so long as you are yourself.
We say this generally, not pointedly.

I can't believe what I'm writing here. Based on our lessons with Professor Algrave, Moostrav is actually fairly accurate in his statement. Magic as we know it is a tool with which we might access a tiny portion of true power. Mastery is the key to the true power. Not mastery of the power so much as mastery of one's self.

Well, now my curiosity is piqued,
I have understood magicks in a similar sense to those listed by Cousin Moostrav and Morgan, here, since my earliest days of cantrips and incantations. If more discussion is to take place on this subject, I'd like to participate in whatever way I can. Cousin, Morgan, If you have time I'd love to take a while with you both present to attempt a better understanding of such concepts.

Drow general (after finding and healing Cinder): "Should we allow you to live?"
Cinder: "Yes, allow me to live."
Drow: "What will you do if we let you go?"
Cinder: "Well, now that I know all of your faces, I will hunt you down and kill every one of you."
Drow: "Alright men, kill him again."
