I am tired of having this argument or philosophical debate, lol
Is there a canon ruling on this difference, if it exists?
I have read Miranda and Fiona as both dark and evil, and light and good respectively on the lore pages (wiki in this case).
But have been told by staff, and have seen with my own eyes, you can be dark aligned and not evil, or light aligned and not good.
Thanks!

Did we ever get a ruling on this? I'd like to know as well.

Good and Evil are moral alignments and have no supernatural bearing.
Light and Dark are supernatural alignments that draw from those powers.

I am a bit confused on this ... what are the power sources of the Paladin orders then as Fiona and Miranda are the physical embodiment of Good and Evil?

It was simply a language change that came about shortly after.
Light Paladins use Light, Dark Paladins use Dark. Fiona and Miranda were the origins of those sources respectively.

So then the take away based on this is that Fiona is a good person, AND the source of powers for light paladins, and Miranda is an evil person AND the power source for the dark paladins. But Fiona is not a good person BECAUSE she is the source of power for light aligned characters, and Miranda is not an evil person BECAUSE she is the source of power for a dark aligned character. Their personalities are just the kind of people they are.
The fact that they are good and evil people means they are likely to give their power to good and evil people, but it is not an inherent aspect of the power.
Is this an accurate understanding of these alignments vs moralities?

That clears up a point of confusion I had for awhile, but it also begs a question:
So if Order is the natural order, the energy of the prime material plane, and that stuff everything is made of
Chaos is the energy of other planes, being the opposite of order means chaos energy isn't really a healthy thing to have around things in the prime material plane.
So what are the inherent qualities of light and dark?

Only the Abyss is made up from Chaos. The elemental planes are derived from their elements.
Light tends to make the days longer, sun hotter, etc.
Dark makes the nights longer, and winds colder, etc.
