Perhaps while it's quiet is a good time to ask, if any of the locals would be kind enough to share any information about the eerie forest beside the town? There's something dreadfully unsettling about it.

We should enjoy the quiet while it lasts, why, what with the eventful run of things we've had!

Eerie forest, you say? Perhaps we ought to go for a stroll.

Kensington,

I recommend against strolls through the Wytchwood at this moment. We cannot rule out that the killer did not come from there and so cannot guarantee how safe it would be to go in.

Kensington,

Very unfortunate and much more suspicious words to post publicly.
I might suggest you explain yourself more clearly.

I would prefer not to have another reason to question your writing.

THE WYTCHWOOD!?

Literal heaven forbid. Never mind the casual walk, for I would live my life not being swallowed by an oak several times larger than it ought to be. A little bravery can go a long way but perhaps in an eerie wood where the most treachery one would face would be an errant coyote.

Apologies, my lord and squire. I am oft told, Samuel, you ought to speak less and every time I am entreated to such advice, I am inclined to agree. The good lord grant this humble servant the strength to be just in quill and tongue.

Amen,
~S. Kensington

The Wytchwood is a very strange and dangerous place. I have ventured in at times, but Daisy has hiked and hunted that malevolent forest her whole life and would know more than I. She is likely out hunting until this evening, but when she returns, I will draw her attention to your letter so you can ask her your questions.

Her knowledge and experience is invaluable, and I advise any newcomers to our area to listen and learn. The Wytchwood is unlike anything else. Keeping your wits about you and learning how to deal with its presence and stay safe is vital to life here.

I've hunted around the wood for my entire life. On the outskirts with extreme caution. It's what my family does and has done for generations. If you're new and planning to stick around long enough to maybe venture into the local woods, here's my advice:

If you want to stay alive, don't go in. When you hear whispering, turn around and go back. If you're hunting something and it runs deeper into the Wood, whatever your quarry might be, you don't need it. Hunting in the local woods is one thing--but if you've got any kind of head on your shoulders you'll notice when you're straying too far into the Witchwood and you'll head back.

Also, stop complaining of quiet.

It appears my previous comment was removed.
What a crude attempt to silence noncomformity.
Can’t even speak freely in this Empire, hmm?

Anyway, as I said before. If you’re new to the area, you'll learn the ways of the Wytchwood quickly.
If you wish to survive, that is.
Unlike your other foes, it cannot be threatened or intimidated.

I am both grateful for your wisdom, Lieutenant Terrwyn, and in hearty agreement with Ms. Gartner on the quiet--at least those moments during which my mouth is closed!

I believe Kensington may have meant well but did not understand the implication(s) of his statement.
If the land is truly in peace then we should enjoy the moment, but maybe silence doesn't guarantee that we've achieved peace.
