1. Please do not show up before 5pm on Friday without approval from James
2. Sign-in will obviously be more complicated than usual:
3. Characters that are created at sign-in cannot be customized other than weapon and spell selection.
4. Item cards have been pre-printed:
5. Characters will start with a small amount of gold, and treasure can be discovered during the course of the plot. You will be permitted to transfer coin treasure to one of your regular PCs at the end of the plot. Item cards (including alchemy) cannot be transferred.
6. There will be a Trade Fair at the usual time on Saturday. IG, the expedition leader, Sir Terrance, has asked those craftspeople and merchants with wares to set up shop. In addition, the expedition quartermaster will have certain supplies and equipment available for purchase at lower-than-typical costs. For those of you whose characters sell goods that you bring, the usual rules apply as far as pricing (although it’s an IG policy, we’re going to implement here for convenience), and you will be able to keep the coin you earn.
7. Throughout the event we will try to keep at least one plot marshal available in Logistics. If you need the help of a plot marshal, go to Logistics.
8. When the main plot concludes Saturday night, we will take a poll of who wants to switch immediately to Travance and who wants to play out an epilogue for their anniversary plot characters. Everyone will get the chance to do what they want, but how we allocate space for the remainder of Saturday night will be decided by what the numbers are like. At 6am Sunday, the game completely reverts to Travance.
9. As a special bonus for setting aside your regular PCs to try this experimental plot with us, players who attend the event and PC will be entitled to self-teach one profession list skill, higher list skill, or profession list for whichever regular PC you play after the anniversary plot concludes.

2. Sign-in will obviously be more complicated than usual:
- Report to Logistics first.
- If you’re NPCing for the event, you’ll be instructed on where to set up – NPCs must stay in designated areas this event.
- If you’re PCing and you submitted your character before the deadline, your process will be much easier. You just need to collect your character card, starting coin, and item cards. Item cards will be explained later in this post.
- If you’re PCing and you did not submit a character in advance, you will have to create one, and can then collect starting coin and item cards. Your character card will not be immediately available because we’ll be doing a print run of them once the majority of sign-in appears to be complete. We will arrange a time and place to hand out these character cards, and will try to make them available before opening ceremonies.
- If you’re PCing and have finished the sign-in process, find a place to stay in cabin units 4 or 5, or in one of the main buildings along the road from the inn (going by last event’s assignments, the trade building, the monastery, or the mage’s guild hall). The cooks cabin will be available for the usual kitchen staff. The baron’s manor / barracks building and cabin units 2 and 3 will be off-limits.
- When getting ready, unpack as little as is needed to get in costume, and don’t linger in the cabin areas or buildings other than the inn for longer than you need to. These areas will be decorated for the main plot, and the first part of the plot will involve your PCs arriving and settling in – the more you leave unpacked and the less time you spend in these areas, the more you will enjoy the experience when the game begins.
- Opening ceremonies will be held at 9pm at the inn. If we’re experiencing a significant delay in player arrivals, we will announce a delayed opening ceremonies in the inn at 9pm to keep everyone informed of progress.
- Lay-on will be held at a different location, so arrive at opening ceremonies ready to play.
- If you arrive after lay-on, follow the procedure just described and it will be assumed IG that you were delayed arriving from the ship for various reasons. The important thing is that you should role-play as though you have just arrived on the scene – you will not get a “story so far” briefing at sign-in, as far as the event’s progress (players who don’t know what’s going on at all will certainly get that background briefing).
3. Characters that are created at sign-in cannot be customized other than weapon and spell selection.
4. Item cards have been pre-printed:
- You must have phys reps with you for all of the item cards you want to receive.
- You will draw the cards randomly from the appropriate stack. Some items are special, from silver to enchanted.
- You can only receive one special item; If you get a special item of any sort, then you will be issued normal item cards for the rest.
- In addition to the above, everyone will be entitled to draw two cards from a stack of alchemy cards that have some magic trinkets mixed in. As with the special items, if you draw one trinket then your second card must be alchemy – though you’ll draw it randomly.
- If your character is a production class (e.g., Smith, Alchemist) you will be able to receive a full event’s worth of items that your character is capable of producing. These can be selected by you (since your character made them, duh). Please plan ahead for this if you know you’re going to be one of these classes. Note that you will begin the event at full production points – these card draws are items your character had fashioned previously.
As per 9 above <<9. As a special bonus for setting aside your regular PCs to try this experimental plot with us, players who attend the event and PC will be entitled to self-teach one profession list skill, higher list skill, or profession list for whichever regular PC you play after the anniversary plot concludes.>> does this include those of us who heeded the call to NPC for the weekend? Or are we SOOL?

You get bonus build, so I don't know if SOOL is what I'd call it. Different rewards for different roles, is all.

To clarify, here are the two scenarios.
Pay to NPC:
You NPC for the plot, as either a main role or as various roles, determined by the plot author. When the plot ends you are still an NPC until the end of the event. You abide by the standard rules/regulations and receive the standard rewards of NPCing a full event.
Pay to PC:
You PC the event. (Alternatively you may NPC the main plot if you so choose). You may then play your regular character Sat Night to Sunday. You abide by the standard rules/regulations and receive the standard rewards of PCing the full event. You may also self teach any one skill as per explained in original post. (If you paid to PC, and NPCed the main plot, than you will receive additional SP awards only, for the NPCing)

If we pay for two characters, may they each learn a skill?

Do these rules apply like a Banquet? I.E. can we only learn one skill on sunday, or can we self teach one thing and learn others in a standard fashion?
Also, if this is just a bonus skill, does it count towards the standard Higher List learning of "one new, one old" skill per event?
Thanks,
Jon

You can learn skills normally in addition to the bonus self-teach. A self-taught higher list skill counts as your new one for this event.
