Rules Update: Berserkers & Celts was created by GJSchaller (GJSchaller)
The following changes have been made to the Berserker list:
  • Break Limb now costs 5 build.
  • Critical Attack has been replaced with Puncture Armor, at the same cost.
  • The skill Throw has had Brawling dropped as a pre-requisite.

The Celt racial skill Highland Rage has been dropped, and replaced with Berserker Rage at the same cost.

Berserker Rage has been updated as follows:

Berserker Rage (Periodic)
Skill (Periodic), Rage
With this skill a character can launch into a lethal fit of rage. When this skill is used, the character gains twenty Body Points and +2 Strength for ten minutes. While under the effects of Berserker Rage, the character is immune to all effects with the Mental, Social, Pain, and Fear traits, both beneficial and harmful. In addition, the character is immune to the skill Waylay. While under the effects of this skill, the character may only use abilities with the Melee trait. Communication of any sort is impossible when a character is under the effects of Berserker Rage. The character will battle all enemies until they have fallen.  While under the effects of Berserker Rage, the character will consider anyone who targets her with an ability to be an enemy and will immediately attack someone who does so. The character does not snap out of Berserker Rage until the ten minutes have expired, or all enemies have fallen.  When Berserker Rage ends, the character is Dazed for 5 minutes.

Communication of any sort is impossible when a character is under the effects of Berserker Rage.


Does this also prevents the user of Berserker Rage from using certain effects, maybe Social or Voice or some other kind of effect, or is the communication barrier one-way?

I am very much so okay with this change... But now, I suppose that I'll be the one to point it out... Am I the only one that thinks there is little sense in the fact that now Celts can racially get now Berserker Rage, yet, they cannot start as a Berserker?

Am I correct in assuming the immunity to mental attacks excludes abilities that would end the rage (Calm, Quell, Nocturne of Soothing Sounds)?

Zach: Correct.  A specific rule always overrides a general one.

Nate: Think about that for a minute.  A raging, frothing berserker is going to stop and flirt with someone for 60 seconds to use Charm on them?

One you're enraged, your only desire is to kill all opponents.  There is no preparation, no thinking - you battle all opponents until they are down, or you are.  Your character is not in any mental state to concentrate on a song.

Just a thought from a distance . If a berserker is in full rage  how would he/she know the difference between friend or foe?  Wouldn't they deem anyone with weapon at hand  a danger to them and thus the lust says KILL,KILLKILL KILL KILL until slain or exhausted 

This puts the Rager at odds with everybody, and his friends can either throw down their weapons or fight to defend themselves . 

For every win for a rager there has to be a loss

Is there  a time frame on Rage?

Again just my 2C

The skill USED to be that way... and no one used it, because it was so detrimental.  You wound up attacking your friends, who had to take you down somehow, almost without exception.

The change is worded such that the skill is actually worthwhile to use - once all of your opponents are down, you snap out of the rage, or 10 minutes, which ever comes first.  Of course, if someone tries to help you... they've just targeted you, so you now consider them an enemy.

Adding one additional line to clarify Berserker Rage:

"While under the effects of this skill, the character may only use abilities with the Melee trait."
