ST ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR THE OCTOBER EVENT

I know its a long read but everything here is important

If you go “Blue headband” at any point at the event, please inform logistics, regardless of how you are resurrected. The event will change and shift depending on the number of deaths taken.

Saftey

There will be certain areas marked off with red glow sticks, you may not enter or interact with these areas beyond basic role play for safety reasons. In the case of rituals in these area’s the person doing the ritual must be stopped BEFORE they enter the red glow stick area, otherwise it is considered “Too late” and the ritual will go through with the sweet, sweet practical effects.

If at any point an npc is leaving being submerged in liquid, whether it be water or fake blood, please wait till they have fully left the pool of liquid before striking them to ensure their safety.

If at any point an npc is utilizing live flame, please do not engage them, and instead engage the other active npcs involved in this encounter.

Unique rules

If i say something is indefensible it is INDEFENSIBLE. If you think you have something that makes you somehow immune or a clever trick to get around this… you do not.

Overwhelm- this attack does half damage, or other specified effect, even if it strikes the opponent's weapon or shield. This can still be defended as a melee attack

Giant Gloves- There will be an NPC with two giant boffer safe gauntlets (the icarus hands) every swing she does, regardless of what tag skill is called will have an indefensible 10 ft overwhelm knockback attached to it. Simply put, if she hits you, your weapon, or your shield, you are getting knocked back 10 ft.

Immune to stealth and Camouflage- There are 2 npc’s that are completely immune to all forms of stealth and camouflage. They move at a walking pace, you CANNOT use any skill to hide from them.

Laser Pointer- if you are hit with a red laser pointer, you are paralyzed with fear for one minute, the skill courage will lower this down to 10 seconds, and the skill willpower will defend it out right.

If death touches you, your clothing, your shield, or your weapon, in any way, YOU ARE DEAD. This cannot be Defended in any way. Death will be able to be heard from far away and will be moving at a walking pace.

One NPC will have an automatic death wish active on certain players

Execute- Auto killing blow bringing the target to the last 10 seconds of their death count.

Devour- Straight to Crit

Social Acrobat- Allows you to redirect a social ability used on you, onto another person

Void Pulse- Undefendable 50 ft knockback

Aether Jaunt- the npc completely disappears and is now white headband.

Scholars tome- will require you to utilize detect weakness on the creature that matches the page of the tome, and then have some one with research study it for 5 minutes before it can be opened.

Two or more ways to defeat bosses- Each boss npc will have a certain number of Aether jaunts, these are the nps’s “get out of jail free cards” These will under no circumstance refresh for the npc’ if you beat them enough times that they run out they are simply dead no matter how early into the event it is. IF you find the boss’ specific weakness item, in most cases the npc will lose access to aether jaunt meaning you can beat them then and there. Additionally some bosses will have additional Role Play related ways to defeat them.

Special plot items will be Hidden in the woods all over the camp, and marked with a blue glow stick signifying that this is an item to defeat a boss, or otherwise interact with this plot. They will not be on the main path so be ready to explore.

The Whole Camp Is In Play- Save for the field behind ostcliff, no area on the camp is going to be some “far off place” be prepare to explore, the maze, totem pole, the slab, all 3 lakes, and may other usually ignored/used only for specific plot places will be in play and may have monsters/special items to defeat them.

Chris will be going over the OK check system during opening announcements

Content Warnings:

Knight Realms is a PG-13 game; while this event will contain themes of violence and horror, at no time will we be sending out content that surpasses the aforementioned rating. Our goal is to frighten and shock our players, not give people out of game emotional breakdowns. That being said, some content may be come across as disturbing to some, so we have listed out a few content warning for the ease of mind of our player base:

• CW: Death by Hanging, Death by Strangulation, and Death by Decapitation
During the first two hours of the event, we will be running a scene at the barracks field in which NPCs will be executed. As we understand that this could be upsetting to some players, we will keep the scene contained to the Barracks field, so that those who do not wish to see the scene can avoid it for their own peace of mind. We will have safety equipment and safety staff at this scene to ensure that it is performed safely and at no risk to our volunteers. There is no penalty or punishment for avoiding this scene. Our players’ safety and mental wellbeing are our number one concern. This is the only scene of its kind and there will be no other scenes at this event with these themes.

• CW: Moderate Body Horror
We will have a monster at this event representing “The Tower.” Its makeup and costuming will depict a certain level of body horror. If you are made uncomfortable by things, such as amputees, distended jaws, wounds, ect. Please avoid this specific creature; it will only be out once for a single fight that will be easy to avoid. Again, there are no consequences for players or characters for avoiding or leaving this encounter.

• CW: Mild Gore
Once again, Knight Realms is a PG-13 game. While we will have a plethora of NPCs designated to frighten our players, we will not breach this threshold. However, we do give the warning that some NPCs will have certain special effects makeup such as wounds, burns, bloody clothing, ect.

If there are any questions or further details needed that are not covered by this list, please feel free to message Matt, Hayley, Chris, or Cassie or comment below. We look forward to giving you guys some safe, spooky fun.

OCTOBER EVENT IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!

Heya, kids! Neighborhood friendly ST here. Much like last year, this October event features a lot of heavy horror themes. As we want to scar your characters but not you as players, we will be utilizing the OK Check In System to make sure everyone is doing alright on an out of game level. At the end of this post, there will be a link to a video to help visually explain the system.

The base premise is very simple:

At ANY POINT during a scene, if you feel the other person might be in any amount of OOG distress, flash the "ok" symbol at chest height. They may respond with any of the following:

- Thumbs up. Continue the scene! Everything is, as the kids say, Gucci.

- Thumbs down. IMMEDIATELY STOP. Break the scene. Assume a passive pose and ask if they need someone to go off to the side with them for a bit to help them recover. DO NOT IMMEDIATELY TRY TO HUG THEM. Many people can be easily overstimulated or react poorly to touch stimuli when stressed. You may be covered in blood and have just tried to eat them. Or you may have just tried to murderstomp them into the dirt. Be understanding of peoples' comfort levels. Remember, there is never any shame in needing a break. It is not a sign of weakness. We scare AND we care.

- "Eehhhhhhh" hand waggle. Stop the scene. The person being asked may be unsure of how they feel, or it might be getting close to a limit. In any case, break the scene and treat it like a thumbs down. Better safe than sorry.

Additionally, if you are part of a scene, and you begin to feel overwhelmed, the scene is inadvertently touching upon a trigger, or you are otherwise OOG not ok, AT ANY POINT, you may flash the thumbs down or hand waggle sign to let the other person know your comfort levels. Sometimes when people really get into an RP or combat scene, they can get a little carried away and might forget to check for signs of OOG discomfort. This way, you can let them know and everyone can keep having fun.

At no point, will there be any shaming anyone for bowing out of a scene. That's crap. We are here to have fun. We are a community, we are friends, we are family. While we may be trying to scare the pants off of you, we also don't want anyone to be made OOG upset. All of the NPCs involved in plot this weekend are aware of this system and will be using it. We encourage everyone else to as well. This will also be posted on the Knight Realms Facebook group.

Be safe, be scared, have fun!

Please someone let me know how this system works out. I want to see how it goes, but unfortunately, the hard limit's been reached, so I will be unable to see it with my own two eyes.
