I used to drive down from RI when I was in school.

6 hour trip to Hickory run each way assuming the roads were clear.

There were a few times traffic made that number go as high as 10 hours, though.

Still worth it, for the most part.

Unfortunately I will not be joining all of you for many moons. I will be living in baltimore and will be far to busy to do fun things like KR.. college is great but sucks sometimes too... hyopefully i will find an event i can go to hear and there..

You're giving up because of BALTIMORE? Cry me a river! That's what... 3-4 hour drive? It takes me that long to get to brooklyn from the GWB if there's bad traffic!

Lol,

Guys, I dont think its the drive thats the problem. MICA gives enough work for about 2 and a half people to be busy year round. Garrett will be spending many weekends under about 15 billion drawing assignments :( not to mention the cost of art supplies...

I actually dont personally know anyone who has survived this school, so its good to know hes got his priorities straight.  :D

Hope to see you as an NPC when you can make it buddy and good luck this year!

Bah.  I'm a plane ride away, taking 12 grad credits and teaching a class and I still make it up as often as cash flow allows - probably shouldn't, but until it effects my GPA not much can stop me. ;)

Good luck hun, don't stress yourself out too much with school.

Kristen has it right.  School, while important, should not in any way interfere with one's sanity - or education, for that matter.

I use to live in Arlington VA; and travelled up to the area around where I am now (Denville) to go to my main LARP.  It was about a 5 hour drive, with out traffic...but mainly took about 7 hour.  YOU CAN DO IT!

Finally got a chance to sit down and post! I've been busy getting Crooked Pin up and running and getting ready for grad school. So here goes:

Highlights:

-Roleplaying with Chris as my older brother, Lou McSweeny. Especially when he bound my husband to the ground with roots for spanking me playfully in public.
-Reuniting with my darling Cyric after he was attacked by drow.  (Post-danger kisses are the best kisses!)
-Fighting zombies in pajama pants and a sports bra with my silver (thanks to Hammish's spell) claymore. HOT.
-Market Faire! I got lots of orders and showed my work off to lots of potential customers!
-NPCing as a mook of the Highland Queen, whose greatest dream in life was to own a pig named Wilbur.
"Ok, you can have a pig."
"A pig named Wilber?"
"Yes, a pig named Wilbur."
-NPCing as goblins and having waaaaay too much fun with it.
"I want my baby back baby back baby back..."
"RIBS!"
-More goblin fun, when we mistook Adam in his armor for a delicious roast pig.  Josh's "Enough of your bacon lies, pig!" made my weekend.
(Come to think of it, the word of the weekend seemed to be "pig.")
-The SHINY TURTLE MAN! And our shiny bowl hats, of course.

Lowlights:
I took a beating this game. Namely:
-Fighting a mud puddle. Ok, so I won, but a rock took a chunk out of my hand, which made fighting zombies later that evening difficult. But I toughed it out!
-It's been done to death, but the heat, humidity, and mosquitoes sucked, especially at night.
-Poison ivy, which actually didn't show up in full force until Monday. This is my first time getting it, and apparently I react to it pretty badly because IT'S STILL HERE.

I'll be NPCing the next couple of games, but I'll still be setting up at Market Faire, with even more goodies!  See you soon!
