Generic Garb question was created by Sean Moulson (Moulson13)
So, after looking in my closet for Alt event garb I have found that I have exactly 3 shirts and 1 pair of pants. Besides Moresca Costumes, where can a guy find more garb? Im looking for pants, shirts etc. I'm just looking to expand my garb collection. Thanks
you all.
you all.

Is it a price issue or a design issue for the :generic-ness" of the garb? I ask as I'm pretty sure you know about the huge list of vendors we have on the web links portion of the site. None of those folks have what you're looking for?

Bullseye at the tuxedo renfaire is pretty solid, and they have great discounts in their damage bin (most of the stuff is just faded from sunlight exposure, so it's perfect for larp).
also, a lot of side-of-the-road celtic stores have REALLY great shirts/hats/sweaters/capes, etc.
lady garb is easy to shop for at thrift stores, but you might be able to find some legit dude pants there too.

Actually, generic hospital scrubs tucked into period boots actually work nicely if you are looking to save a few bucks.

Depending on ability and resources, I've made most of my simple underlay garb with JoAnn's patterns when they have $1 pattern sales. Pants are 3 seams and some hems, shirts a few more.
But I understand not everyone can do that, just my 2 cents.

Before shopping at a Ren Faire, Con, or a store like Medieval Collectables, look at a thrift shop first. You might be able to find what you need for only a few bucks before shelling out the big cash. I found a pair of leather pants for my brother's character in a thrift store!

On the same notes as scrubs, Costco has some great pj pants that are loose fitting and all neutral colored. when tucked into boots, they look like garb. gina actually pointed this out the other day when i was wearing my pajamas out of the house...tucked into my boots.

It's not an issue of cost. And yes I know of the list of vendors, more of a question where and stuff. I just feel that there is so much more out there for females then males. In this genre of time it all looks similar.

I would recommend Armstreet. I have some of their costuming and it has held up well and looks great. (I have the Medieval Long Tunic and Overcoat Set which I wear as Tyros.)
