John Hughes defined the 80s and entire genres of films. From National Lampoon's Vacation, Sixteen Candles, Breakfast Club, Weird Science, Pretty in Pink, Ferris Buhler's Day Off, Planes Trains and Automobiles, Uncle Buck, Great Outdoors, and Home Alone... he wrote some of the most quotable lines, and some of the most memorable movies.... as you pass, the song "Don't you, forget about me" plays on in all our hearts.

Ferris Buhler's Day Off is one of the all time great HS flicks.  ::sigh::  He left a great body of work.

Agreed...this is truly a sad day. You cannot make a Top-10 defining movies of the 80's list without including at least 1 or even more of his films. Few people were more influential to the HS genre than he was. Breakfast Club, Ferris Buhler's Day Off, Sixteen Candles, and Home Alone are all classics and that I believe everyone should see in their life at least once. He will be missed
