This is a pretty amusing test of geography knowledge using a computer-based interactive engine.

It gives you a traveler's IQ at the end.

Got beat on lvl 7. They gave me a string of those little french owned islands in the South Pacific which i really have no idea about.

I did however hit the Coral Towers in China within 14km and Victoria Falls within 20km

Im trying again.

:)

If you have a method of increasing the size of the map, let me know.  The larger the map, the closer one can come to the exact location.  I know where York is, yet miss by 100 or so KM becasue the map is so darned small.  Still, any time one gets over 3500 pts on a pick is good.

Man am I terrible at this. I did get within 100 KM of the pantheon, which I think Kristen or anyone who knows about our time there in Rome will find quite funny.

In 3.19 seconds you clicked within 10km of the Battle of Trafalgar, Spain.

My most accurate so far. Admittedly my third time trying the test.

My best IQ of three attempts is 118 at lvl 9

I havce to brush up on my South American and  West African geography. Of course 6 months out of the year people in these places probably dont know what country theyre living in depending on whos killing who that day.

With Flash's vector graphics, if they had just defined a larger resolution area to be used for the application, the application would scale up to it automatically.  Now, if this application wasn't so... oddly set up, I'd snag a copy of the SWF, and host it on my server, as just a straight link, which would let the thing use the full browser window.

However, trying to snag it out of the code used there quickly was becoming far too much like neuro surgery, especially since the original application seems to use a wrapper flash script to actually access the test application.  So I'm giving up.... For now.

That's geek top me, M<alcolm.,  Let me know when you figure it out.

Took the test once - will try again tomorrow.  Got to the hardest level and scored well.  Never had to repeat.
Bolivia is a S. American nation named for its liberator :)

When in double, click between Brazil and Argintina, at their northern apex.  usually you get close enough to score reasonably well.

Anything old world, Europe, Middle East, Asia, North Africa.
Any places dealing with  religious history. All fine and well

When it shifts to commonwealths of modern nations and protectorates and things like that where I lose it. Time ot pick up a modern history book.

Level Eight. Micronesia and Africa. As well as some smaller western block countries. A bigger map would be thanked.

Unfortunately, my efforts to increase the map size have been for naught.  They appear to be defining the size of the pixmap in the application, so it doesn't upscale when broken out of an embedded set up.

What I can suggest, is to try temporarily setting yourself to a lower resolution while you take the test, so the map is bigger for you.

Got to level 8, within 19 km of the Holy See!!

I am VERY ignorant of africa, and small providences... and where exactly cities and monuments in South America are... not that the latter hurt too much... just I always picked someplace completely different.

351,100 pts, level 10 IQ 109

It wasn't Nevis or St Kitts that threw me, but Mali.  Damnmem, there is not a single African country south of the Sahara that has the same name as when I took 7th grade geography.  Map is way too small.  Some of the islands are not visible, or maybe my perscription needs changing again.

Seems like older participants do better.  Do they still teach geography as a required course someplace in Middle School or HS?

Better yet, nah, hardly anyone reads articles with maps.
