Hey guys, with the next event meer days away I've finally got a CD but together of songs to practice for LARP and I got to ask some things:

Is the words penny/dime alright or should I really change it to silver/gold which doesn't have quite the same punch for the song?

Right now I'm also look for appropriate translations of deities for Jupiter;Pan;Isis;God;Jesus but if anyone knows them off hand I'm also very busy with the winter costume last minuet making. (I know, I should have had this done last week!!)

Hey!

The gods in KR don't necessarily map very well to gods in real-world mythology - the following is one possible "translation," but it's probably a far better idea to check out their descriptions in the rulebook than it is to take my word for it.

Jupiter: Valos (both head of their respective pantheon, both have some association to the sky and to law.)
Pan: Malyc (there's not a "trickster" god in KR, but, as the god of Chaos, Malyc might be the closest approximation.)
Isis: Gaia (Valos' companion is actually Andorra, but Gaia's role as a deity of Life probably makes her a better approximation of Isis.)
God: Valos (Assuming you mean the god of the Abrahamic traditions, Valos is probably the best fit.)

As far as IG vocabulary for talking about money is concerned, you might feel a bit out of place talking about pennies or dimes - however silver and gold are well-known and well-understood as units of currency in the game world.

Looking forward to seeing you at the weekend!

Since there are three whole pantheons, it can be pretty easy to substitute "gods" for "god" and have it still keep the same effect, plus it doesn't usually mess up the flow of the song. As for Jesus, it might do to look through the Light pantheon and figure out which deity correlates best for the purposes of the songs, as there aren't a whole lot of well known IG tales of demi-gods like Jesus, or Hercules.

As far as pennies go, you could refer to them as coppers. We don't use copper coin physreps anymore, but if somone hears it, they'll easily be able to correlate that to a low-denomination coin. Dimes, use silver, maybe. Or even just use the generic term "coins," assuming it doesn't mess up the song.

Hope this helps!

Yeah unfortunately that's part of the problem with songs is that sometimes you need to match syllables before words. But copper=penny have similar enough syllables it's going from dime=silver would be a little difficult. But that's what practice's for. :)

I find that "coin" is usually a pretty solid substitute in any fantasy setting. Also has a nice feel to it.

Yeah I might just have to remove the song from the list all together, which is a shame especially since it's called Oh Gypsy!

My only worry about using gold is it doesn't have the same punch from "But I'll continue my rhyme for a dime, or a penny is fine there's are difficult times, yes difficult times."

I'm sure pennies and dimes would work. There could be an ingame explanation for it.
