A question to those who play make-up heavy characters.

How do you juggle going IG and OOG, for NPC shifts and the like, with full-body, or extensive make-up?

Makes sense. I suppose "play the heavy make-up character, clean-up, NPC, and switch characters" is also an option.

If you don't plan on sleeping in your makeup, taking the first or last shift of the day is also an option.

I do one of the above. I've started the weekend as my Romani, then done logistics on Saturday and swapped to my Dryad for the remainder of the weekend. I've also taken the midnight NPC shift on Friday. Often times I try to avoid taking all the makeup off, but I've bitten the bullet and done it once or twice.

This past weekend was my first game, and since I was playing a Nyad I was a little nervous about how that would work too. For NPC shift my make up ended up working out with some additions for the first one I was playing, but that was just a happy coincidence that I know I can't count on. I had the shift before the feast on Saturday, so even though I washed off all my make up for my second NPC, I had enough time to at least get a basic coat back on while everyone was getting ready for the feast. Once I refine my make up a bit more I'm sure I'll need more time, but hopefully I'll also get faster at doing it.

As for IG/ OOG, with the exception of NPCing I kept my make up on all weekend, including sleeping, and just did touch ups as needed (more so for uneven spots I noticed in better lighting than for anything rubbing off).

Not sure how I'm going to make it work once we hit summer and full body make up becomes more necessary.

Alternatively you can do a full bodysuit. The benefit is you only need to do makeup around the eyes/mouth. Overall it helps as it only takes about 5-10 minutes at most to get into full garb with a bodysuit w/ proper coverage.

Gus,

Yeah, that's been my plan. I'm heart-set on bringing a Nyad to game over summer, mostly because I won't be able to line up a summer-ready costume for Lux very soon.

In the future if your question is to the general player base please use the Off Topic board. The Realizing the Character / Rules Questions board is only for marshals to answer questions and players should not be answering questions on it unless they are the appropriate marshal type.

Sorry. I will do so in the future, though I was also concerned about Atmosphere Marshals, especially given Gus' suggestion. I am almost completely unaware of the precedents IG.
