PG-13 Game and Player Comfort Level
Every once and a while we like to remind everyone that we strive to maintain a game that could be compared to having a PG-13 rating. While we unavoidably have to deal with issues such as killing, and sometimes torture, there are some areas that we should steer clear from. Direct sexual activity is one of those areas that we need to largely avoid. Even beyond that, under absolutely no circumstance should any PC or NPC ever be directly or indirectly referring to rape.
If ever your role-play scene begins to walk you down a path that is considered beyond what is acceptable, it is the responsibility of all parties involved to identify this, briefly recognize and point out the mistake OOG and immediately turn the situation in a different direction IG.
I also want to touch on the idea of player’s comfort level. You should at all times strive to be sure that when you are approaching areas of RP that are acceptable but still difficult, that you check in on the players involved OOG to make sure that none of them are effected adversely OOG. If a player indicates that they are uncomfortable with a situation of any kind, you should respect their comfort level OOG and adjust the scene.
