Feast of Blades March 1219 was created by Darius Redmaw (jackcoyle27)
In honor of my god and following in the example set by my teacher Gilgamesh Heimdal, it is my intention to hold two gatherings this coming feast. The "Feast of Blades" is a tradition of my people wherein warriors gather to learn new skills and challenge each other in martial contest, both to ensure that newer warriors are given the training they require and experienced warriors remain sharp in their skills.

To this end, I plan to hold two such gatherings on the day of the coming feast at the field in front of the inn, one at ten bells in the morning and the other beginning at five bells and concluding with the beginning of feast. I will make myself available at these times to teach any of the martial paths and skills that I know to any who wish to learn and to accept challenges from those who wish to test their skills against mine, either in a contest of first to ten cuts or to the last warrior standing (until such a time as one warrior places the other in the serious condition.)

I would encourage any who wish to learn to attend, and would invite other experienced warriors to come and share their own knowledge with the town's newer warriors.

To those who have doubts about this warrior's prowess allow my words to alleviate those doubts. This man is definitely a man to learn from. He is a fearless fighter who is a valuable vanguard to any fighting force. When this warrior is at my side I can rest easy knowing that my flank and my charge will be successful.

Darius I will be in attendance for some respite from the front lines. I will love to watch and assist in this training shall you need my experience.

Darius our friend,
This seems like a lovely little gaggle.
We're delighted to challenge you, ourselves. It should make for an invigorating fight.

We will also hold Argentian knife fights, if you would have us. Where each party takes ether end of a thick scarf, and a knife in the other hand. With this we will go to three strikes, or the death if anyone is feeling so moved.

We will be there at five in the afternoon.

If I may make a suggestion, Darius, it would be regarding your location. I have held similar competitions and training exercises over the past few years and have found the newest addition of the fighting ring near the Baronial Guard's barracks to be ideal. It is open for use to you, should you wish it.

Would that I could attend, I would offer my Professorship and Critique that I could assist you in passing down your mastery of Martial skill. Even to those who do not share your paths.

Next time, Redmaw. The offer will stand everlasting.

Granted I get a break from my work, I'll make an appearance. It never hurts to train, especially since my work rarely includes combat anymore. I can also help teach the new warriors what I learned from my time at the fighting academy. I'd say thats two birds with one stone.

Interested in observing and learning more of your faith, less interested in drawing a blade myself. I will endeavor to attend, unless my reticence is considered sacrilege. Then I will oblige and stay afield.

I would be highly interested in engaging in this, new to thing as I am. Perhaps Aiki would be kind enough to recommend my nascent capabilities as being a possible credit to this gathering? There are some styles in which I am rather dull.

Thank you for the invitation, Darius.

As duty permits, I, Naerduïl, shall join you. Even an elf as old as I must continue to seek knowledge of the blade lest I hope to fall upon one. Also, I have become quite fond of the Barovians living in and around Hellock Keep and look forward to learning (non-lethal) Argentian knife fighting from the mighty Moostrav.

For memorable days in these interesting times!

My thanks to all who have replied.

Arradir,

Thank you for offering me the use of the barracks field. I still intend to hold the morning session in front of the inn for two reasons. The first reason is the tendency for heroes to gather at the Dragon’s Claw, I am hoping that this might draw those who did not get the news ahead of time. The second reason is the fact that many missions leave from the front of the inn, and I would not wish to deny anyone the chance to test their skills in a true battle.

My thanks to all who participated in this event. As Midori implied, the Red Queen ultimately chose to grace us with her presence on the physical plain and oversee the event in person. She was pleased with our offerings.

As such, I intend to make these gatherings a regular occurrence at feasts going forward. I hope that those newer members of the town who attended learned valuable lessons, and that those who chose to risk their lives fighting under the shadow of the Raven were enlightened by the experience.

In my capacity as a member of the Inquisition, I would also offer these gatherings as a forum for those members of the town with serious grievances against one another to participate in honor combat, both to ensure that such disputes are settled honorably and to protect the participants from unjust repercussions.

In the Raven’s name,

Darius Red-Maw
Champion of Agaura
