Notice: Isle of Amanthyre was created by Nicoletta (fyperia)
With the recent discovery of the name of the isle on which Fiona sleeps, any information that has been gathered should be shared with the populace so that we may find its location and ready the fleet to travel there as soon as is possible.

Please list your name here if you are attempting research so that we may better coordinate information, as well as anything you may have learned.

(oog: there's a map of Arawyn pinned up near the board.)

Ser Daniel and I went on a brief excursion, and found out a few things:

The Isle of Amanthyre does exist somewhere in the Anteries Sea.

The waters around the island will be difficult to bypass. Treacherous waters make for difficult sailing.

As for the Isle's location, Daniel found that it's directly south of the rift, and very close to the coast of Palmydia.

I'm sure there are more clues, we just have to find them. My hypothesis is that the Isle of Amanthyre is hidden either among the straits, where if you sail too close you could fall into the rift itself - or, somewhere in Sevenlore.

i have the exact location, size, and a pretty good grasp of the topography along with much data on flora, fauna and exotics. I should have my Research, and thus my manuscript complete by the next feast. i made his Excellency aware of my progress and my projected timeline after the battle in the Inn last month.

I've found it to be the southernmost isle of an archipelago near one of the original seven human kingdoms. With all this information together, I would assume it to be this unmarked island near Coast Haven: directly south of the Rift, fractured by its creation, in treacherous waters. It is possible that Amanthyre is not on our modern maps at all, but this would be my best hypothesis.

Edwin, we are somewhat pressed for time. Your tomes will be helpful over the next few weeks, but we need the location sooner in order to set sail. Please confirm or deny if you have come to the same findings as we.

It is the southern most island of the group of seven, and is notable (o n the map) for the dark outline the cartographer added. I was not aware you were such an accomplished scholar. I'd love to see your cartographic references.

When do we set sail?

Sorry for the delay, I was going to post this sooner but I needed to go back to be certain of my findings. Because what I found states that we'll be dealing with some serious things upon arriving at the Isle as well.

What I found was reference to the Isle being tainted with a supernatural force of Good. And while that could work in our favor, its entirely possible that any creatures on the island may be just as afflicted.

On top of that we might have some issues finding the tower itself. It was hidden from view, probably to keep people from doing the very thing we're attempting to do. But there was mention of a key of some kind. It was a very general wording, no specifics as to what it might be other than it exists and would reveal the Tower's location.

Lastly there were references to a Tower guardian. Someone who I inferred was there to be another line of defense. There was no indication as to whether it's a person or creation, to what it is, but it said something about Fiona's power, there might be a connection between it and her power. I admit I know very little about magic, but do we have any of her magic? Can one have samples of another person's power? If so maybe we could get it to respond to a sample.

Logistics:

Forgive me, if I overstep, but I want to make sure we have the equipment and supplies necessary to succeed in our mission.

Forge --- We will need a rank 4 forge to be moved onto one of the ships to have for our use during the trip, and once we arrive.

Alters - it would be in our best interest to have alters to our gods with us for the trip. I ask the churches to arrange this.

Foodstuffs. - I would ask the citizens to make sure to gather necessary supplies for the trip to and from the island, and at least a months provisions above that. Druids, Rangers and others who know hunting and fishing may also supplement our stores.

Though I have decided to spend my last few moons with my lady love, I wish you all best on the trip. You may find yourselves meeting rough seas, thrown about from starboard to port, tossed within the confines of the vessel. I would ask, as you slam into the reinforced hull of the ship, to remember my words:

Thalia--you spoke of the island possibly being "tainted" with a force of Good.
Your choice of words aside, do we have any further details on that?
If we can know what we're likely to encounter, hopefully we can avoid Travance's usual murder hobo tactics. We should not be fighting Fiona's guardians. Are they likely to recognize other entities of Good? Hopefully the island is not overly aggressive and can be reasoned with. Travance cannot proceed as it normally does, or we may ruin our chance at getting Fiona's aid.

Do you suppose we send a diplomatic group ahead of the town to reason with Fiona's guardians? Would that they know the town meant them no harm, it may quicken our journey through the Isle.

Annora,

I probably should have specified, but tainted wasn't my word, it came directly from the tome. Given that we don't know what we're going to find, I thought it best to just put that bit in its entirety so we could try and figure out exactly what it meant.

As for the rest, let me see what else I can find. Especially because as of right now we don't know if these guardians are animal, vegetable or stone.

Thalia - thank you for the clarification, that makes much more sense.

Nalick - as Grim said, that's up to the Baron and Warlord. They make the plans. I just work here. (Although in these matters, I would probably defer to Magnus).

Bran - who are you accusing of idle talk? This is called planning, and is vital to the success of our mission. As much as I'm sure you'd like to, we can't just go there swinging our swords (or maces) around and trying to kill everything in sight like the mindless murderers Travancians often are. This is likely to be an island of Good, the same as your god, last I checked.

I believe the use of the term "taint" may be in reference to the perception of the author of the books used to research the island. Remember, when the Astral beings first arrived, there was no such thing as good and evil to them. They could have seen both as a "taint".

I have completed more of my research and can share the following in the knowledge it is accurate.

There really isn't any charts of those waters surrounding the island. People avoid those islands and have since the rift happened and they became mostly impassable due to the rift. Everyone avoids them by staying close to Coast Haven's shores up to the quail straits.

As far as local flora and fauna, we should expect similar species to what we normally see: bears, wolves, deer, rabbits, things of that nature. But one thing that kept coming up in multiple sources during my research research is this 'taint of good' mentioned by others. It's connected with Fiona's presence on the island.m A better word than taint is "presence."
